A good non-restricted AR style rifle.

Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. I'll keep it in mind when I'm choosing. How much can you get one for?

Best new and instock price is $2674 @northpro.

Wolverine Guns & Tackle of Red Deer sell them for $40 less, but you will have to wait a considerable amount of time and have very poor to nonexistent customer service.

Also if you watch the ee you can SOMETIMES get a decent deal. I seen one on there asking $2400 for a brand new one more or less. (Only had shot 40 rounds) but you will almost never ever see them below $2000 no matter how beat or wore out they are.

While the price is very steep, I can tell you right now it is the most comfortable black rifle or any rifle I have shouldered. It's ergonomics and center of mass in the rear make it easy to point, and easy to shoot. It seems to be a favorite rifle at Red Deer Shooting Center as it is always being rented out.

This cost me $1400, you could get the plastic hand guard for $160 less. It runs great.

There are no centerfire AR style rifles in Canada that are non- restricted. All ARs and variants ( I HATE THIS WORD) are restricted by our super intelligent gun laws. There are a few non- restricted black rifles that may channel your inner AR which are excellent hunting guns. Robarms XCR, T97NR, Tavor, KeltecRFB come to mind. Most when fully equipped are in the $3000 range except the T97.

I have a non restricted AR . Its an Armalite AR180B , just bought the rifle from a fellow Nutter . Yet to try it out . Looks pretty wild though .

Kel-tec Su16 in .223.

Takes AR mags.
Non-restricted.
under 1000 bucks.

Nuff said.

Not really a great pic, barrel on the NR version is significantly longer and uglier.
Not that it's not ugly in the first place.

Great thing about the ugly ones is ... You don't have to worry about anyone wanting to steal it from ya.:) ... Now that tavnor with the mag in your armpit is one ugly mofo!:)

There have been lots of nice firearm options presented to the OP here, however if hunting with this rifle is a primary objective, then I don't think anything in a 223/ 556 platform is any good. Again, lots of nice options for varmint but if you want to take a deer or such, I would stick with the 308 platform such as m14, RFB, mini 30 (762x39).

Also, have you considered the SKS? Lots of tacticool stocks available and the rifle itself is only 200$. Definitely not AR style, but they can be made tacticool for a really low cost.

All the 223 NR are good to owns them, mine is a SU16 and I personly like it . It's great for me because I live in the bush and can use it in my back yard 10 months out of the year. I use it for target practice but I'm sure it will do for yotes. I'm sure if ar15 ever becomes NR , these NR imitations will not be purchased by anybody , ever. Lots of people bad talk about what they don't like. Pick what you like , they all do the same thing.

sorry to burst your bubble but an AR180b is not a "non restricted ar" its a non restricted ar180b. completely different then an AR15.

and to the OP. for you needs, i would recommend a robinson arms xcr-l in 6.8spc. as close as youre gonna get to an ar (looks wise) and can hunt more then small animals with 6.8.

i love the tavor but i think its a bad choice for you, its .223 which really limits your hunting. and with tax its over 3k. + optics and ammo.

If I had to go away from the AR platform, I personally would be going with the MR1...

But, I haven't yet done that, so take it for what its worth

Wow , thanks for correcting me . I do not have an RPAL so all I do know is they look the same .

What type of gun is this?

Also as for the SKS and modifying it, I already own a stock SKS and was considering to modify it but I really didn't like the options they have available for them. Also I really like the way mine was finished when I bought it, so I left it like it is.

I think what in going to end up doing is start to look for a M305 that has a good barrel and just start to slowly build it with the M14.ca mods. Or when I find out what that gun is in the picture Brianma 65 posted, I might look into purchasing one of those. Does anyone know how far the M305 will shoot accurately? I know that ammo plays a big part in answering that question, but I'm just kind of looking for a ball park answer.
