1949 Sks mystery rifle

Chinese bayo. Look like 3 sided but pic is not clear. Flutes on russian spike are longer,they go right at the collar and the russian bayo are about 0.5 inch shorter. I didnt visit Westrifle website since long time so i didnt saw that rifle. Never heard of 49 with chrome bayo, all pics i have seen with parade or guard rifle show rifle with blade.

But it isn't a parade spike. It is definitely Chinese.

As for the sponsor. I pm'd him and made him aware of the spike being of Chinese origin before the rifle sold. I was told it wasn't, that the rifle was all russian, and I wasn't going to push the issue further.

I've bought several SKS from the sponsor and have never had a problem. Just couldn't understand how they wouldn't know.

Sadly this is an epic fail on the part of Westrifle. I have bought many SKS's from them including 4 49's, but they have dropped the ball bigtime on this one. That is a chinese bayo no question in my mind. I saw it for sale and knew it had been bubba'd with a Chinese. Someone somewhere trying to make it look like something it wasn't.
 
The 49 I bought from them years ago had all matching and proper parts including bayo, but it was a BBQ refurb and someone removed the black from the bolt and carrier. Couldn't tell from the pictures on the site but I never said anything. The op bayo is chinese

I knew in advance from the small photo, that the stock was not the original type for a 49,,( the narrow handguard type),,but no big deal.
What I wasnt expecting to see when it arrived was a Chinese spike.


 
It is a Chinese that sags even. The proper one would be locked in parallel with the barrel and would have fit in the groove cut for them. That even looks suspiciously like a groove for a blade bayo and the ferrule looks like it is V'd for the blade bayo not the spike one. It think it had a blade bayo on it and somebody got the wise idea to stick a Chinese spike on it to try to make it look more period correct. They failed miserably. Who did it I don't know but a refund is in order.

IMO you should get a refund on that with no restocking fees or the like. You paid a premium for the 49 and you got a bubba'd rifle that was misrepresented, end of story. I would be calling my credit card company and starting a dispute if they won't answer emails for you they will talk to the credit card company when they contact them about the dispute.

I smell a scam to be honest. Like someone rolling back the mileage on a car. Doesn't take a university degree to figure this one out. Someone put a Chinese bayonet on a Russian SKS. It was either them or someone down the supply line came up with the idea, Hey! Lets put a Chinese bayonet on this 1949 and sell it as a 1949 Russian SKS with a spike bayonet! Brilliant! They will be none the wiser!

Totally agree. Someone at some point bubba'd this rifle to make it look more valuable.
Westrifle has to be the number 1 knowlegable expert sks retailer in Canada or the world.
And certainly the Cdn experts on the 1949 sks considering how many they bring in and sell.. Yet for some reason they insist its a Russian spike. I really doubt they could be duped into buying this rifle at full price overseas.


Who knows,, maybe Al had a family emergency...as others have said his customer service is top notch.

John thank you for posting all the emails that were marked private between me and you. I was away on the business trip and just came back. This is a mystery rifle to everyone but not me. This came from Ukraine with bunch of other 1949 sks. It is Russian. If you want blade bayonet there is tons of people that can send you one I do not sell parts so I do not have it.
Now that you start with threads "Ok, since you still refuse to negotiate and keep ignoring me,,,I guess my next step will be to call my credit card company and dispute this purchase.
May take a month or two but I will get ALL my money back." you can call your credit company and figure it out, but you could have also picked up the phone and call our office number at 604-940-6264 and doubt with an issue that way. You were told by me to ship it back but you did not do that you ignored it instead you wanted discount or blade bayonet.
Writing bad things about me or my business this the way you decided to go ? I wrote you over 12 emails on this matter and this is what I get, a thread that you will contact credit card company? Thanx
I still stand by my word this one came from Ukraine and was not modified here. You paid 450 where other paid higher price. You had 7 pictures posted but you are saying you did not see it before you purchase it. I think you just wanted discount or other blade bayonet. I told you that I do not have blade bayonet and I will not do discount as you already had one.

Al,,, I made available several options including me sending it back early on.... all you ever cared to reply was that its all russian..not chinese bayo, probably a parade rifle...and to keep it.

You only offered to take it back after endless attempts on my part to make some sort of a deal and finally me saying im going to get my credit card company involved.

Yes..I messed up..I didnt see that the rifle had more than one tiny pic..my mistake. But $450 for that rifle? Really?
 
Well. I wasn't going to comment but I have been following this situation in multiple threads. Really the rifle should be returned for a refund. Period. Doesn't matter who was right or who was wrong. Were the OP's sugggestions for a discount or replacement bayonet an attempt to resolve the situation or were they an attempt to scam Westrifle in some way? Doesn't matter anymore, at this point it seems that Westrifle is willing to take it back and give a refund and that this would resolve things for the OP. Frankly I am suprised this has dragged out so long.

I don't want to take sides but it is obvious the bayonet is chinese, don't try to call it a parade special or whatever, just take the gun back and give a refund.

Westrifle seems to rely on pictures to sell it's rifles but pictures only tell a part of the story. If I was to pay $450.00 for a 1949 SKS I would expect a lot more from Westrifle The trouble is this whole sad story has played out before. It starts at post 162 of the following link.

Brian can you forget about westrifle? Is it hard to know why are you always commenting only bad things about westrifle even though you never bought from westrifle. I will create a post about good thing that westrifle did can you please comment on that. I told you that I do not like when you bad mouthing my business. If there was no westrifle there would be no Sks or Mosin in Canada from Ukraine. Can you please comment about that?
As to this 1949 me and the person who bought it talked and I already returned the money to the guy even before I received the rifle. Once I receive it I will take detailed pictures and explain to everyone that it is Russian. It has a silver bayonet basically it is not painted black like the rest of 1949. Ohh I also think I will leave it to my self as it is last 1949 that will ever be exported from overseas.
