Cleaning bolt on a K-31

Picked up a 7.51 gauged beach stocked K-31 over the weekend and was wondering upon disassembling the bolt if all the grease should be removed or some left in for lubrication.Concerned about freezing in sub-zero weather/hunting etc. Also where to get proper K-31 dimensioned dies.Not Lee. Harold

Grease where the operating rod lug enters in to the bolt body groove. Makes action smoother and prevents wear and cracking the lug.
Tiny bit on lugs wont hurt.
Manual say not to use any other lube, BUT the Swiss rifle Clubs normally leave a very, very thin layer of grease on the bolt to prevent oxidation.
When storing for long periods, go crazy with the grease but clean it before use.

I've been using a small tube of white lithium from CT. Great stuff. I slick up the op rod, outside of the sleeve and a touch on the lugs.

I am using Redding dies for my K31, have had no issues at all beyond adjusting cartridge OAL to suit the very short throat.

Used Lee, RCBS, and Hornady New Dimension dies sets for M1911 chamber without undue wear on brass.
Just remember to anneal you brass before you start. I had problems with RCBS dies and Privi Brass that was really hard, and ancient Rockchucker press had too much flex in it's mounting, as I found out when converting 8x57 to 6.5x58 Portuguese.

I got my Redding dies at Prophet River. They seem to be the go-to ones recommended if you're just shooting the K31.

Also wondering about clamp on scope mt St. Maries ? Would have been better in steel with a pictanny rail instead of the 3/8 dovetail.Worried about rings sliding.Brownells carries a steel one I think. Anyone in Canada?

1) Steel adds a lot of weight and finish mars easier than top grade anodizing, which the Swiss Products use along with real Aircraft grade Alum. these are not like the cheap S&K horrible mounts. None have complained about the Alum mounts.

2) All Swiss Straight pulls are top eject. Wide rails and the ring bases get in the way.

3) Swiss Products have a stop at the front to prevent ring bases from sliding to the front under recoil.
