So my first AR is almost complete.

Only thing missing is a white light, i already know where i will put it and i know it will not be a tlr-1 at 12 o clock, this setup doesn't work for me.

I'd like a small sized light around 3.5 or 4 inch long with a momentarily on only tailcap switch (clicky) that gives at least 120 lumens. it will be at 11 o clock on a troy alpha rail but i don't want to use the extra rails that come with it, i want a mount that can be mounted on the top rail, i was thinking maybe a magpul mount.

i'd also like a setup that will allow me to keep my hand in about the same position on the rail as it is now, the mount would be in front or behind the front sight wich will move if needed. for now it is used as kind of a handstop or reference point (as well as a front sight obviously):

The light can't be too long or else it will be too far in front of the muzzle or too far back for me to activate. the inforce wml is interesting, i also looked at the fenix pd22 because of it's size but the tailcap is not momentarily only. Any suggestions are welcome for a light/mount combo.

Having played with them recently and loving the weight, size, ease of use, and low profile we brought in Inforce.

With the grip you seem to be demoing it would sit pretty well perfectly for both activation and not getting muzzle shadow.

Inforce WML, available here in both white light and White/Infarred.

surefire x300 ultra.i mounted it in the 3 o'clock position, so when im grabbing the handguard such as you are in the pic, I can activate it with my thumb for momentary or constant on..

I'd like to offer a different point of view on the choice of light :)
First off to address the elephant in the room, We are Elzetta's Canadian Distributor so there is a bias here, however the counter point to that is that I personally used an Elzetta light for almost two years before approaching them about bringing their lights into Canada.

Right then, if you want the absolutely most rugged and dependable flashlight (and mounts) on the market then you want an Elzetta.
They are not the cheapest lights or mounts on the market, but you definitely get what you pay for.

The lights are available in multiple configurations with 3 different output levels: 235, 650 and a retina burning 900 lumens.

Here a video of an extreme torture test http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=f2Q55phaLzU
You can see more at www.gungear.ca below are some of the mounts in common configs.

I think for price, the insight is good. But I think for quality I would go with the x300 ultra or something similar. 500 lumens
Is a significant improvement over 200 lumens. I've done the lowlight carbine course with Phase line tactical. Out of the variety of lights on AR's. The x300 ultras (which were admittedly the newest) were quite the improvement. I also like that you can swap those models between rifle and pistol. It's also compact for the amount of power.

The new streamlight tlr1 hl is somewhere around 600 lumens I recall and about $233 at retailers like da tactical.

i do have a tlr1 the newer model with 300 lumens, wich is great on a pistol but i don't like the mode of activation when used on a carbine, too prone to accidental discharge. i am specifically looking for a momentary ONLY push button tailcap. The surefire 6px tactical is like that but about an inch too long to be ideally suited to the way i shoot. my barrel is 10.5 and the handguard is 11 and i like to have my hand as close to the muzzle as possible so a 5 inch flashlight will be in front of the muzzle if i am to have the button where i want it.
