That's no Grizz...Polar Bear? (somewhere on the HB Coast)
Yup, polar bear. Notice the tracks on the left side of the bear track; that was my 90 pound German Shepherd, which actually provides a better idea of scale than the .458 round does. The tide was out, and I told my wife we should cut across the flats to the tower, rather than follow the buggy trail all the way around. Wisely, she objected saying she didn't want to walk through the willows, I got a little annoyed and said, the at string of willows is two miles long, what are the chances of a bear laying right where we walk through??!!. Apparently 100%. A big polar bear in the willows has a way of getting your attention, even if he's moving in the right direction. By the time my wife got her camera moving, he had already made 50 yards, and the picture unfortunately is a poor one . . .
Enough of the hi-jack, back to .44s.
A local fellow here just picked one up and bought some factory ammo to shoot in it, which he thought was fun. I gave him a bagful of my handloads to try, 20 grs of H-110 under a 325 gr WFN hard cast slug. When he touched that off, he found the sensation was somewhat different and said he was afraid to shoot them anymore. I misunderstood, and asked if they were sticking in his gun. "No, they didn't stick, that's not what I meant." I don't know what all the fuss was about though . . .
