Am I the only one that wont run cheap ammo such as Norc through my AR?

Hey guys. So I just want to no if I am being over cautious? I have no problem paying extra to run decent ammo through my AR(or other black rifles), I guess I just like having performance and reliability. I always stick to PMC X-Tac Green Tip 62gr, American Eagle XM855 62gr, Sellier & Bellot Match rounds, and Federal. I promised myself I will never run that Norinco "stuff", heard a few horror stories from people using that ammo. Anyways just thought I'd see what everyone's opinion is on this...

Thanks.

AR barrels are a consumable part. The money ull save shooting high volume of norc will pay for a barrel or 2. Of course there are horror stories. There's always gonna be issues when hundreds of thousands of rounds are brought in.

I shoot my own reloads or federal bulk. No steel cases or norinco for me. Cheap ammo isn't worth the hassle. Good ammo goes bang, groups tighter, cycles properly and burns cleaner too. In the end, you get what you pay for.

I'll never run it in any of my rifles.
Too many reports of people having problems for me to waste my money on it.
I also like to make groups not just make noise and cause unnecessary wear on my barrels. If I had a cheap AR with an easy to change $200 barrel I wouldn't care much but my barrels cost more than that and some of them aren't easy to replace.
It's junk and I don't waste my time or money on junk. Saying it goes bang almost every time isn't enough reason for me to use it.

I have a super expensive high end gun and paid over 3500 for it. I bang off norc ammo through it all the time and have a bast doing mag dumps. I also don't mind letting my friends fire off ten round mags all day through it at my expense. I don't care. I love my gun but if i can't have fun with it without feeling myself get poorer every time i pull the trigger than what's the point. I will just get a new barrel when someone on CGN brings them in. Meanwhile I am going to have fun.

I think that hundreds of thousands of rounds of Winchester white box and American Eagle FMJ are also brought in and you don't see a new thread every week with someone having problems with it.
An AR barrel is a consumable part but they aren't all $200 NEA or S&J barrels in people's rifles.

Feel free to shoot whatever you want but I for one am tired of reading all the threads of people having primers falling out into their trigger group, undersized projectiles, keyholing, and terrible accuracy.
It's the same as buying a Chinese clone of an Aimpoint or EoTech off eBay and then complaining when it doesn't work well and won't hold zero. You do generally get what you pay for when it comes to firearms.

O I am sure my gun would run that stuff absolutely fine! I just don't want to lol. Its just like with my Sport Bike and Can-Am Mud Quad, they say they "can" run on regular... But I will never run anything but premium in them, have rebuilt a few engines that have been destroyed by Pingin'.

Leaves more for the rest of us :) I have shot tons of it and never had a problem. I feel a little shame putting it through my ACR but it goes bang every time and gets reasonable accuracy. I mostly shoot at silhouettes so more concerned with hitting centre mass than tight groups. Shoot it too 300 regularly.

Exactly! Glad you guys agree. Can openly say I will never run that garbage as long as I live haha.

I say it all the time so welcome to the club, be ready to get attacked when you jump in on a thread and tell people that though.
It's fun though so I just throw it in there and stir up the bee's :nest:

Sure, you can buy a Ferrari and run regular through it if you really want to...

Personally I'll be running American Eagle, S&B match or handloads through my Swiss Arms and ACR.

I'll shoot anything that goes bang and hits what I'm aiming at.

This.

If you aren't trying to find the cheapest ammo that does what Steve suggests you:

A) Don't shoot enough for it to matter much.
B) Are filthy stinking rich.
C) Don't have the aversion to debt that I have.

I either shoot reloads, or whatever I can get cheap - you can actually learn a lot about your gun and your gun handling skills from shooting bulk ammo. The first time I had a bad round go sideways in a gun, the box said Remington on it. Since then I've had bad rounds from virtually everyone else in the ammo business.

What rifle are you using that has had problems with every brand out there? Sounds more like a rifle or magazine issue than an ammo issue.

I refuse to pay the inflated prices on ammo in this country. Give me all the surplus #### that you don't want and I'll fire it all!
