I don't seem to be seeing anything new entering Canada for a while now. I've been keeping my eye on the usual sites like Higginsons and Budget. It seems that powder supplies are running dry, at least for anything decent. I feel I got lucky with my keg of Titegroup, however trying to find anything like Varget, IMR4895 or Reloader 15 has been like trying to find unicorns. Got an email back from Custom Reloading Services and they are pretty much saying that nothing has been imported into Canada in some time. Higginson's hasn't had any real updates in their news section since February.

Anyone know what is happening at the moment, or know where I might be able to find kegs of the aforementioned powders (if they even exist here)?

Aparently there is a shipmeent sitting at the border but the importer whom it is waiting for is currently waiting for his import licence renewal which has expired
Oppsies! So when ever that licence makes it across someones desk his shipment can be imported.

Silly question maybe, but did you check the EE?

I've never really had trouble finding the powders I like to use, maybe because they aren't as popular (4198, Unique, etc) and then I thought I'd give this varget that everyone raves about a try, and found a few unopened pounds on the EE at the standard rack price on the same day - guy was even in my area, just went and picked it up. Ad was up for a few days and the powder was still available.

I haven't seen any change in the last year or so. I have had to shop around, but I have a good supply, or R-22, Varget, R-7,IMR7828,H4350, and several other powders. The same is true with brass and bullets, I have found what I need, I just had to look a little more.

Same here... I have stocked up a little more than usual... but not excessively.

Seems to be a fair amount of powder around Alberta. I've seen quite a bit lately at Cabelas, P&D and many other stores. Higginsons has been out for months...or maybe some of the gun shops are buying Higginsons out before any powder hits their shelves and website.

My suggestion is to always buy more than you think you need. There is powder available but it comes in waves. Buying extra get you through those droughts.

I remember the last few times I was shopping & stocking up on goodies. I saw several things I wasn't sure I really needed but threw them in the basket anyways ......... boy am I glad I did! Seems rule of thumb these days is don't start looking for stuff once you're getting low.......... buy it when you see it! I get below 1000 primers of a certain type or a couple pounds of one of my favourite powders and I start getting nervous now. Got a 7 lb box of WC735 a while back from Higginsons I didn't really need at the time but now I feel like a freeking genius!

Seems that the days of WC-735 are finally over.

You weren't a genius, you were simply being prudent. People who buy like something will always be available are being something else...... The story of the "Grasshopper and the Ant" is recommended reading.

The main reason for shortage is hoarding and Panic buying

The US crowd is buying whatever is manufactured as fast as they can its spreading to Canada as well.

I'm on my last box of primers from the great primer shortage 10 years ago LOL

Hodgdon powder finally trickled into Canada about a month ago. Cabela's, WSS, and other dealers had or still have a bit of stock. Another issue lately discussed on other threads on here is price. I will not pay $42.99 per pound for powder at the local hardware store.
