If you could only have two hunting rifles...

Just for the hell of it, if you could only have two calibers/hunting rifles what would they be?

I am going for light-medium to heavy game to 400 yards and after buying, trying and selling a hell of a lot of rifles, decided to go with a 7mm Rem Mag and 338 win mag.

What two would you use? :D

If I could only have two hunting rifles I'm pretty sure they would be different ones every couple of months. Theres no way I'd be able to keep the same two for any length of time.
A new gun is fun for a while but theres always something newer that looks like more fun. :)

Today my choices are
Remington 308win and Savage 338 Lapua.....if SHTF tomorrow it might be Ruger 22LR and Browning BAR 300win mag.
 
Something that scares bears, liberals and can shoot into space after bouncing off a rock after passing through the vitals of a trophy buck. ;) :p
 
Funny you should ask this question, because I basically asked myself this when getting into rifles.

I thought of the overall effects of what I was looking to achieve, and decided that I wanted something kill big animals, and something to kill small animals.

For my big cal I decided to go with the very common 30-06, and in a semi-auto Browning BAR, which would allow quick follow-up shots when I did not want to risk the big game getting away.

For my small cal rifle I decided in a bolt-action 5.56mm Mossberg MVP Varmint, which allowed decent precision out-of-the-box, and let me enjoy a bolt as well. Follow-up shots aren't as important shooting small game than large game, so a bolt was fine. I would have considered a Tikka T3, but I really liked the MVP being able to take AR mags, which allowed me to share it with other firearms.

30-06 is hard to beat all rounder. (as if it needs anyone to defend it). I had one...then went 338 win mag for the heavier game. Hoping to avoid chasing my game around the province :)
