Wow...that's scary. Has it been like that for a while now or is the shortage and prices a recent development?
I have been seeing both IMR and Alliant powders coming in to the local stores lately and in good supply, finally able to replenish my RL15 supply and grab 4 lbs of Blue Dot for loading my 10mm which I have yet to shoot...........Yes the prices are 45-50 a lb but hey, what ever the market will bear.....free enterprise and all. I don't like paying 50 bucks a pound but I don't like being out of powder even worse !!! I came into this shortage with a very good supply after stocking up at WSS one trip through a couple years back, my only shortage came because I developed a load using RL 15 in a couple of rifles after the shortage hit and once I had depleted the 2 lbs I had working up loads and loading after, I was down to less than 1/2 lb and low and behold none anywhere for more than 18 mos now. But thanks to 'Looky and the LGS I now have enough for the next few years...........
yes its been this way for a while now , as our UK delivery has been postponed twice now
have been told from a few sources the UK could be waiting a year for our powder and components to turn up
and when it does it wont even get on the shelves as back orders will be filled 1st
Here it's still like winning the lotto if you happen to be in the right store on the right day and they've just gotten the right stuff.
I ordered powder from BSS that was on his site. Boom he was sold out. He gave me a substitute, and THAT was sold out in the time it took me to reply.
But I load many different cartridges, so if I ever run out of something I will just shoot something else.

TSE got a shipment recently. I have 3 lb waiting for me to pick up. I was in PG on Friday, got lucky at Ominica Sports and picked up 1 lb (last one they had) of IMR 4895. I'm doing a road trip (the long way, Edmonton, Lloydminster, Swift Current) to Calgary next weekend. I've informed The Wife that I plan on stopping at every place that even resembles a gun shop to check for powder.
Guys at LeBarons in Ottawa said an order was just shipped from somewhere in Kentucky. It's going to the Montreal warehouse and will be shipped to the retail locations from there. They said it's normally 2-3 weeks to get to the Ottawa store. I'd guess the same for the GTA locations and only a day or two less for the Montreal store.
The Ottawa store has a 2lbs per customer per day rule now. The store manager decided to implement it. The guys at the rifle counter chuckle when I show up once a day, every day, to buy 2lbs until they're sold out of all the powders I normally use. They haven't raised prices much yet so most H powders are $26-32 and IMR are $30-37 if memory serves. 10% off with a LeBarons club card.

If you do the math, its actually cheaper than most other powders per pound. We have quite a bit of Hodgon and IMR now too... (most are $39 per lb)
