I had just finished oiling the Sako's stock, and my wife peeked her head in my room and commented on how nice my rifle was...

I said, "yeah, for $2700 it better be nice"... she said "that's how much you paid for that SKS?"

Yeah, she thinks the non-refurbished 1953 Izhevsk's arctic birch stock is "much nicer" looking and my oiled walnut stocked Sako... unbiased opinion to!:D

Arctic Birch just has that sweet distinct grain that you normally don't see on guns. Sanded and oiled and daaaamn they look good even stock they look sweet. Walnut is walnut, its nice its solid but so common place.

There are locked doors in my house, shop, farm and cabin that girls don't have a key for. I keep it that way for a reason.

Just say honey since you like the sks so much it's yours! Then replace it with a way better rifle.

Well, she's been pretty tolerant of my two hobbies: motorcycles and shooting... both more expensive than she would like.
And yes, I tend to keep pretty tight lipped on exaxtly how much they cost me per month! :)
BTW, that damn Sako 30-06 gave me a pretty good bruised shoulder from a range day last Sunday. It was a safe queen that I finally de-cherried 3 years later! 15 rounds of 180 grain Hornady Superformance SST and 7 rounds of 180 grain Remington Core-Lokt within 1/2 hour to sight-in/test my Zeiss Conquest 2.5-10x44 scope turned out to be pretty stout from that lightweight rifle! :) Funny, I don't think my 45-70 Marlin Guide Gun was so hard on my shoulder. :)
