Thinking of getting a nice air rifle and not sure where to look. Thinking air tank type of rifle in maybe .177 or better yet .22, but, open to suggestions. Don't want to spend a fortune, but, I do not want to buy crap and not interested in break action. Mainly target and small pest control out to 100 yards max. So, where and what to look for kind of help please.

Cheapest and best 'bang for the buck' PCP on the market right now. (XS B50 and B51) http://www.airgunforum.ca/store/index.php?cPath=22 You'll then need a tank and the gear needed to refill the rifle. You'll also need to know how to set up the rifle to get the most velocity out of it to get to your intended MV (1000fps?) but you should know that pellets become very unstable at the speed of sound and become highly erratic. As well, having the correct tools and knowledge on how to disassemble/repair is a must. HPA air rifles tend to leak at the most inopportune times and sending them away for repairs is VERY expensive. this is the absolute bare minimum you'll spend to get a system you are looking for. Pick the gun, add tax and shipping. Then add tank and transfer/refill gear. Get good glass...cheap scopes will just piss you off.

You're looking MINIMUM $1000 if you go as cheap as possible and that is not recommended as you will quickly realize your mistake and want better. The prices to go better quality go up quite sharply from here. Boils down to: If you have the knowledge and ability...and money then you can have a blast. By the way, even in 22cal, shooting at 100 yards with great accuracy is quite iffy with the above described gear. Really should go to higher caliber if you intend to do a lot of long range work (.25).

You might want to join up here and ask some questions as well. Also a good place to do research.

/Buy a Hatsan PCP, best value out there.

I built up a .25 Condor I take gophers out to 120 yards on a regular basis using JSB 25.4 grain Exact Kings at 940 fps. And yes the muzzle is just for bling fun.

My .25

You will need a scuba tank, fill probe, glass, bipod, budget 1000.00 much more if you want an English air rifle.

If I was looking for a precharged rifle I would get an Air Arms S200. Nice, light, compact, accurate well made single shot that can also use a revolving magazine.
They are made by CZ and I had a chance to shoot one last summer and it was impressive. I can't remember who had the best deal on them but they were well priced.

A bit OT but I have two air rifles. You don't charge the rifle but rather the cartridges. One is a No4 that uses .303 cartridges with air bottles in them and special .22 bullets.
The other uses a much larger air cartridge and .22 pellets. I don't think they are made anymore
The No4 is charger loaded while the other is a single shot. (unfortunately I only have five of the .303/22 cartridges)
