Hey guys I need to have a brake and bolt knob installed on a Rem 700 - both threaded. Can anyone recommend a gunsmith other than KC or Tactical Ordnance. I am sure they do fine work, but I just don't want to wait 3 months if I don't have to. There has to be some other reputable gunsmiths in the GTA that can do this kind of work?

Thanks!

Wanna know how to tell if a restaurant is good? They are booked up months solid and the parking lot is always full. Gunsmiths are much the same. The good ones are always busy, and the bad ones... not so much. What is the rush?

While I appreciate that everyone has their own philosophy on restaurant selection, I am looking for a recommendation for a gunsmith. I am quite certain there are more than 2 in the GTA that can thread a barrel. Please jack another thread.

Thx guys. Yes talked with Paul, will ship the gun if need be but would rather get it done locally. Tac Ord = Tactical Ordnance from my OP lol.

Thanks for the suggestion on Precision Arms I'll give them a shout.

If anyone else has another suggestion feel free :)

Uhh yeah precision is booked for like one year. Good for them to be so busy, bloody ridiculous for a consumer. Hard to believe there isn't a decent gunsmith in the GTA, who can thread a barrel just as good as any other, sometime sooner than 3 to 6 months.

Ahh well the brake and the bolt knob can go back in the parts bin. Now back to reloading.

Oh gee. Who woulda' figured?

Stelios at SC Gunworks is a great talent but does have a good list of work waiting. He is in the south Markham area and best to call or e-mail for an appointment.

Took a barrel to precision arms to be cut and threaded for choke tubes. Quoted 6 months. Took 3 years. Took an extra inch off for every year it was there. Not happy

Good to know. They quoted me minimum 6 mos to 1 year. 3 years is beyond ridiculous (so is 6 mos for that matter).

For anyone else in the same boat looking for a gunsmith for something more immediate - I found a gunsmith in Hamilton called Grizzly Gun Works (Jeff). He was recommended by Fishing World where I have purchased a few rifles and they said he'll get it done no problem. He is very busy too but able to get to work within 3 weeks so not too bad.
