New Taurus Judge Raging Magnum damaged rifling

Taurus seems to have lots of quality control problems. I wanted to buy one but after some research, decided that a S&W was well worth the extra cost. There are many qc issues out there.

Best of luck. I hope the after sales is better than their quality control.

Try Copperzilla. I found it better than Hoppes/Otis bore solvent against lead. Also, use a good bronze brush. Clean/rinse your brush against paint thinner after few passes to avoid pushing the contaminants back into the rifling of the barrel.

That sucks. You should contact Snapshot Inc. in Quebec, they are the Taurus warranty center for Canada. Taurus guns have a lifetime warranty on them, so you shouldn't hesitate. You might have to wait a while since Taurus is known for being extremely slow when it comes to the Canadian market, but its still your best option IMO.

You're right it's not carbon. Sadly Taurus has a really bad customer service rep. Take it back to the dealer. No yelling at him. He just sells the stuff. He doesn't do their QC.

While it looks bad - does it have an effect on accuracy? Have you noticed anything while shooting it?

Obviously a major PO on a new gun...
Even if it is firing Nice and straight right now I wouldn't want to take the chance it'll keep firing straight in the future. I would definitely return or warranty it.

I haven't even taken it to the range yet. Just out of the box, cleaned it, then noticed the condition. I'm hoping to hear back soon from the dealer.

if it was lead, it should be on the grooves not on the lands. That barrel is done.
I would be returning that gun.

A dealer in Montana had told me that he sent back more of the Taurus product just after receiving shipment than any other manufacturer due to QC issues. Best of luck getting the warranty handled in a timely manor.
