Hi guys, i have an auto 5 magnum, i have shot it a few times, and it works well with heavy 2 3/4 and 3" but it only cycles one kind of light load ammo... Ive tried federal, winchester and champion, it works only with the winchester AA, even though it has the same amount of powder. Any ideas why?

Yes, it's not designed to shoot light loads.

Do you know how to adjust the rings? There may be a diagram on the inside of the forearm, and IIRC there is one on the Browning website.

Have you ever changed the order of the friction rings to facilitate the type of load your shooting?

Did you know that a auto 5 has friction rings that are color coded to match ammo loads?

You can always add a little oil to the magazine tube, just enough to allow it to operate. But even after all that, it may not be reliable.

You need to real careful with the oil. The brake system works both ways, rearward and forward. Oil is used to defeat the brake system, by the time the light loads function there may be too much oil and the brake system may not be able to protect the gun. Browning made 'Light' and 'Magnum' versions for a reason. The forearm is what stops the barrel on the forward stroke, damage can occur and they are getting expensive.
