Glock 17 Recoil Spring Assembly

If you have a Gen 4 with the dual guide rod, a SS single guide rod assembly is a downgrade.

I have a one year old gen 4 that has had 10,000 rounds put through it in less then a year, operates just fine.

Mini 15, are you talking about a SS dual guide rod that the Glock Store offers? how can that be a downgrade?
Thanks for your reply

The stock parts in your Glock work very, very well. The only upgrade you wouldn't be wasting money on would be better sights.

I wasn't aware of a new generation gen 4 dual captive SS guide rod assembly.

Straight up heres how I see it. Glocks are one of the most reliable pistols out of the box, soooo many "upgrades" are just snake oil that don't do anything, OEM parts are fine. I feel that SS rods fall into this unless your doing some intense IPSIC type stuff. For most the benefits are subjective.

What's not subjective is the more and more non OEM parts you put in to the gun, the more you are diverting from the formula engineers and people with more knowledge then any tactical conosur on CGN have designed.

I put night sights, OEM extended mag release and OEM extended slide stop on my gen 4 G17. Spent the rest on ammo.

So there's the guy with lightening titanium trigger and SS rods in his tricked out glock and me with a stock piece and a butt load of trigger time. Guess who shoots better?

Some more very good and intersting points , thanks Mini15.

I'm new to Glocks and I'm just trying to learn as much as I can about them.

I do love shooting mine!!

Depends how much money you have and how much you shoot. It really about consistency. IF you wait until there is problems, you dont depend on the pistol that much, so who cares. If you want to have a dependable pistol to shoot right everytime you shoot, i would say every 5000 rounds. Go to glockparts and order a rebuild kit or two for both your upper and lower and u r set

Very good point WRH any suggestions?

I have been running the stock sights, but I just ordered a set off Brownells. I have yet to receive them so I can't give a review.

I would think about what you want/like in a sight. Try other guns with different sights and see what works best for you. If you want it, someone makes it for Glocks.
