Following the directions on a new Redding Neck die today I cleaned it before using it with bore solvent and a brass brush then a thin coat of case lube. Just used a rolled up bit of that heavy blue paper shop towel to wipe it clean (love that chit it doesn't shed) and a Q tip to wipe on the lube. 5 minute job.

LPS 1 spray is a great rust preventative to use on things like milling machines and lathes where you want rust prevention BUT not heavy oil to attract dust dirt grime. Likewise use on/in dies after cleaning - leaves a dry micro thin layer of rust preventative AND lubricant.
That was another reason for the several day dunk.
