Am I the only one that wont run cheap ammo such as Norc through my AR?

I've got a spam can of Norc .223 coming ....

Can't wait. The 55 gr American Eagle I have on hand works fine in my wife's AR 15, but isn't powerful enough to operate my 'slam dunk' Mini 14 reliably. I get frequent failures to chamber the next round as the bolt isn't coming back hard enough.

It's not the magazines.

Wet suit, snorkel and samurai beer hat. The safe word is sushi.

i hate norinco , i was given some 5.56 ammo at the range and i wouldnt touch it, i only buy american firearms and american ammo. Found a cracked casing in a box of .45 and i still have the box i wont use it. i bought a bunch of xm 855 lake city 62 grain ammo thats just itching to get ignited.

Expands your horizons son. There is more to the shooting world then just American products.

i know, just a preference and whats in my budget and reliable. i dont support china, i believe the less we buy from there the better, unfortunately its a pretty tough battle,as i type i have a suspicion this computer is made in china. if i can help it ill buy american thats all, might consider germany and israel in the future but with my budget my next project is a 700 yard rifle for 1400 and remington 700 in 308 is going to have to do or in 300 win mag if i can find a good deal. my glock is made in the usa, my rem 870,ruger sr22r, and bushmaster m4 as well. all work at 100 percent reliability, 2 out of the box and 2 with some minor adjustment and replacement parts under 50 dollars each.

That's very strange, the mini 14 I used to own was so overgassed it would throw American Eagle casings 30 feet.
Might be something wrong with your ruger if it won't eat dirty bird. The only thing I ever had positive to say about the mini was that it was reliable.

Sounds like an aftermarket mag issue.

I have several 20/5 Ruger mags and four Ruger 5rd mags. The problem occurred randomly, not specific to any one mag.

I'm thinking that somehow the pinning has interfered with proper spring function. This is my 2nd Mini 14. My first was utterly reliable - with unpinned mags.

Sounds like an aftermarket mag issue.

You can't afford everything that is made in America....with all these unions and stuff. You will probably be paying at least double the price if products were made in America.

And there are way better firearms and firearm related accessories out there than American.

Currently up to about same (~200rds) of 556 Spam in CQ-A as of today, and zero issues as well. Looking forward to blowing through at least 2 of my 3 cases this summer.

Next time to the range i will shoot them in my MK18, they are way hotter than the Federal stuff, i like that... JP.

I am a reloader so I won't shoot that stuff. Word at my rod and gun club is they are going to ban it right away because the turkeys shooting this garbage don't pick it up afterwards. They tend to be the kids and the pikers that just dabble in the sport for the most part.

It's sad because if they only picked it up I am sure there would be no gripes. Now, the noobs are going to have to fork out even more cash for a sport they can barely afford in the first place. It is a no-win situation, I guess.

Or is it because it is steel cased rather than brass and there is no cash value to it for the club or whoever collects the brass there. just saying....
