My Ruger 10 /22 has been such a great rifle, I've decided to treat it to the good glass it deserves. The two scopes I've been looking at are the Redfield Tac-22 and the Nikon P-22. Both are similar and around the same price, also both offer lifetime warranty.

Just wondering if anyone has experience with both, and if one of these sights is better then the other in respect to build quality? My 10/22 is a target gun.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Redfield uses Nikkor optics anyway. (Leupold makes them in the same factory as their optics.)
Leupold doesn't make their own glass, good glass making technology is limited to only a small number of manufacturers in the world.

They don't grind their own glass, that I can assure you, they buy their optics from manufacturers in Asia.

I have the Nikon P22 on my Ruger 10/22 and I love it...and I work for Zeiss, lol.

I have a Redfield and I like the reticle better than the Nikon. I find the circles are not as accurate. I own a couple of Nikon scopes and don't think thier glass is any better than a Redfield. Try to look through both before you buy.

Nikkor glass on the hunting and imaging side is licensed to no one. We are one of the few glass houses in the world as you point out and our R&D is reserved for us. Quick note, the P-22 comes in a plex reticle as well if you're not keen on the BDC.
