Hellow fellow nutz.

Just want to see if anyone has any tricks/tools to clean this area of my upper surrounding the DI tube without disassembly of the rail system.

The hole that the di tube runs through between the upper and rail system to be specific (not where the charge handle runs) Q tips are too big to fit.

I spray WipeOut foam down the tube and then run a gas tube cleaner (like a pipe cleaner) down the tube an hour or so later. I've tried the fuzzy pipe cleaner wire things from the art stores and they seem to work okay. My buddy gave me a few Tapco ones and the wire is stiffer and an the bristles are a bit larger/firmer than those art shop pipe cleaner things. I've only cleaned it once since my AR is still pretty new.

I don't think the gas tube requires a whole lot of maintenance but I've been wrong before.

Try therapy for OCD. I wouldn't stress over it too much, there won't be a function issue if that area is not hospital clean.

I'd leave it alone too.. the amount of pressure that goes through there would clean anything out of it. Most cases people trying to clean in there do more harm than good.

The "trick" I would use to clean that particular hole would be to remove the charge handle.

If you can't get at it with pipe cleaners or Qtips then f--k it. Spend your OCD efforts on the bolt and carrier. Props on your taste in firearms though.
