So i know selling reloads without a license is a no go but is trading them for another caliber illegal? I have some .308 tracer reloads but no longer own a .308 gun and are surplus to my needs.
Any info is appreciated.

Legally, you can give them away, but not "sell" them. The term "selling" includes barter, as defined by Revenue Canada. Trading is barter.

However, the legality is a very minor issue. The big issue is your personal liability. Since they were reloaded/manufactured by you, then you bear full liability should anything happen. Likewise, if something catastrophic should happen to the person you sold/gave them to, even if he doesn't want to come after your, his family can come after you.

Pull the bullets and sell/trade as components, or make sure your personal liability insurance covers that situation. If you "sell" them illegally, then your personal liability insurance is likely void.

Then do that. They're your shells. It would be my option before letting someone else shoot them because of the liability issue. I dont see an issue with turning in unusable, unsellable ammo.

Although tracers are kind of a grey area when it comes to legality, so maybe thats not the best option for you.

Pull the bullets, dump the powder.
No need to involve anyone else.... Unless you want the attention.

Thanks for the good info. They were not reloaded by me if that makes any difference. I bought them at a gun show not realizing they were reloads.

I had this happen once at a gun show. The guy wasn't advertising them as reloads and selling them for the same price as the guy beside him was selling factory ammo. On the bottom of each box was a sticker that said they were custom reloads or something like that. I guess next time I'll open up the case and have a better look before I pay.
