My dads friend has this colt police edition 32 caliber handgun that he has had since the 70's. He is wanting to sell it and was told it is worth around $1200. Any truth to this? What is it worth, and where would you sell it? I have not seen a classified page on this website.

In that condition? In Canada?

No more than $250 absolute tops.

It's a Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless .32 ACP. [.32 Rimless Smokeless]

It's 12(6) status in Canada limits it's worth.

The OP's particular example is also challenged by it's condition.

That is the type of gun John Dillinger used and was carrying when he was shot down.

$250 max for that gun in its present condition.

To bad its not chrome with Pearl grips.

Still a nice fun gun to shoot.

How about nicer finish with faux ivory grips & Colt medallions?

Yes in manitoba. So only $250? I will be sure to tell my dads friend, and if he can get $1200... awesome!!!!!

I have three all in much better condition than the OP's example. I would say if .380 they might get 225 to 250, but as .32ACP it would be lucky to bring 200 in that state. Only in the USA will one of these bring more than 500 and up to 2000 if in mint condition.

I have exported a number of these in the past though nothing recently, and gotten $500-1100 each for them. You need the right vintage and condition to do so and unless provenanced with documentation showing ownership by someone historically significant and/or famous, the OP's doesn't make the grade...

About the only $1200 12(6) Prohibs I can think of would be a Luger, or something extremely special. They have such a limited appeal and an even more limited market up here.
