XCR-L, can it be built better?

Accuracy.
Weight.
Reliability.
Cost.
Parts availability.

You can't actually try to argue, with a straight face, that you think an xcr is a better rifle on any level than a comparably priced ar (bcm, noveske, etc.) ?
I'm not trying to argue with a straight face. I'm genuinely asking with a smiley face. Just wondering dude.

I don't think you understand the conversation that just happened here.

Actually I do. You asked for sources, they were provided, backing up my claims. They were provided and not even by me because I'm too lazy to justify myself, and I don't have to justify myself to a nobody. And in doing so, making you look like an idiot.

10-4, I apologize, I'm used to arguing with the xcr faithful.
The following might help:

Accuracy is as good
Weight is comparable with the proper barrel
Reliability is better
Cost is comparable
Parts is questionable, considering it's a small company

Weight is not comparable until you go with the light profile xcr barrel. Major hit to accuracy with those. 3 moa, might as well buy a tavor... Which is more compact, balances better, and more reliable.
I saw more low level reliability issues (parts falling off) and stoppages with my two xcr's than I have with over a dozen ar's combined. Just my personal experience. Nutnfancy's may differ :)
The xcr is $2700 for the lightweight keymod. That buys you a vltor/ noveske ar with a stainless lightweight profile barrel. Sub moa accuracy, and lighter weight than any model of xcr. Or you can go the other way and pick up a mid grade ar for $1000 less than the xcr, that's still a more accurate, and reliable rifle. And the same weight.
The xcr has two things going for it, the control placement is excellent, and it's nonrestricted. If the barrel attachment method were revised and another manufacturer with tighter quality/tolerance control built it, it could be everything the xcr's fans think it is. But you don't know what you don't know, until you know it...

^^ Thanks for the breakdown. I have no experience with AR's so I wasn't in a position to argue against it's merit.

You've stated that the weight of the newest model is comparable.
There's little doubt that parts falling off and reliability issues are largely attributed to earlier models.
It's non-restricted and the ergonomics are "excellent"
Accuracy isn't as great as it should be for a $2500 gun.

To me the meat of the debate with the XCR seems to be the price. If it was a sub $2000 gun I bet people would be less critical of the XCR's design. It's really too bad that Canadians get bent over the couch just because we want to be able to shoot our guns somewhere other than a private range. Cheers.

The whole forum becomes dumber every time ntm opens his mouth, he is always lurking around XCR threads. I think Alex Robinson f*cked his girlfriend.

Excuse me ?
I've owned two xcr's.
I've owned almost every non restricted black rifle available to us.
I've owned quite a few ar's.
I shoot more than the average gun owners, around 10,000 rifle rounds per year.
I think I've got a pretty solid base on which to comment. It's based on my experiences with said rifle, compared to experiences with others.

I don't think any other rifle gets us so stirred up on CGN!?

I've shot the XCR a few times, from the earliest version to most recent, and I've been damn close to buying one many times to fill that NR/.556 slot that I can't quite seem to fill...

I think deep down we can all agree on this, lovers and hater alike... the XCR is (IMO) a stubborn design by a stubborn man.

Unfortunately we live in Canada where the threat of being screwed by the Gov't is very real. The unfortunate reality is at any time 1 or more of our rifles could be banned, and the Tavor is pretty high on that list. I love Tavors, and if it weren't for the f'ing gun prohibitionists, I'd buy two. Buying two different rifles reduces the chances of having no rifles somewhat. Heck - if the laws weren't so stupid - I'd have a non restricted AR15, and then we wouldn't be having this conversation at all.

They are easy $1000 nicer ! The Swiss is truly military grade , high quality night sights , superior coatings like nitro carb. Take both the Swiss and the XCR into rough or combat conditions then tell me its not $1000 nicer LOL .. The machining on the XCR looks like it was done by a highschool shop class compared to the Swiss.. The reason the Swiss has about the same accuracy as a good AR or XCR is because it has a military type chamber that is cut looser than a match chamber, and has a longer throat to increase reliability.. You would not want a match chamber on a infantry rifle. If you drug both rifles through the dirt or put very high round counts through them u would see the difference quick.. What military used the XCR?

Build quality of the Swiss Arms was definitely superior but mine didn't impress me in the accuracy department. If I was going into battle and had to choose between an XCR and a Swiss Arms I would take the Swiss for reliability but I would take the XCR for it's ability to use AR mags. Throw a quality AR into the choices and the AR wins every time.

Lol, I haven't checked CGN for a couple days and I missed 4 pages of entertainment in this thread alone. I better check more often. :)

What? XCR-L can be bought for $2350 before tax. At least know the prices of XCR-L

Yeah I've looked at a Tikka tactical in .308 ,but for some silly reason it's not offered in a semi-auto. version. Maybe you should check the forum your in before you post.;)

They make tikkas in semi-auto? Cool, didn't know that...

Very true but some guys just want to have a semi auto black rifle.
Now back to the hunting and precision forums with you ;)

Thanks capt obvious lol

The point is that if I want an accurate gun, I will get bolt action. Bolt action will always be more accurate. Semi auto rifles have their pros and cons.

They've definitely never impressed me.

Sweet, dully noted, and we don't care.

I get tired of listening and reading individuals, and the same individuals over and over, bashing other's rifles because......... it's not a combat or battle proven rifle.

I'm an AR guy too, I just prefer the XCR for various reasons based on experience. and it's not because I'm a "Fanboy". it makes this (from ntm):

Excuse me ?

pale in comparison.

so far the only arguments that really have been presented (over and over) are: it's not combat proven (which is pointless anyway for a civilian gun) and Alex Robinson is an idiot ( I completely agree on this one, I miss Terra (XCRmonger) so much) but his design is ingenious. please note, ntm compared the XCR in it's stock configuration against a Noveske which is a purpose built, tight tolerance civilian gun. of course, with this comparison the noveske does indeed have the advantage. When I compare the XCR to something, it is the Colt M16/M4 family because it was designed to replace this weapon platform. and in this case I believe the XCR has the advantage. In the end does my opinion matter, no.

Can it be better built? sure it can, so can the AR, AK, Tavor, M14, ect. As every single one of these rifles are constantly being updated and improved every year.
