best group with bulk ammo challenge

I am looking for your best group with a semi auto rifle at at least 100 yard with bulk ammo. No nosler, game king, accu tip or home reload. Only surplus or basic off the shelf type of ammo, the kind you plink with and have in large quantity.

Here is my entry,

2010 gen 1 kel-tec RFB with burris 3-9x40
Shooting norinco 7.62x51 surpluss

Have to admit I only scanned the thread but my understanding is that the challenge is.... show your BEST group with surplus ammo. OP appears to be looking for a fun, what can you do with crap ammo challenge regardless of caliber or rifle design, Can't see how this has digressed into my dad can beat up your dad!! I have groups from 6 inches to about 4 inches with surplus ammo with my norinco M14S if I read this right I will post the actuals so everyone can have a good chuckle at my expense. (the same rifle does less than 2 inches for 5 shot groups with reloads if you are interested) I like what the OP has set up as a fun challenge, if I wanted to compete seriously I would get back into IPSC which is fun but I am too lazy to play the game!!!

One more stipulation?
Since these are semi auto rifles lets shoot the groups in a moderately quick succession. No waiting 5 minutes between shots to let everything cool for maximum consistency. These are "battle rifles" let's shoot them like they were made to be shot not like a benchrest bolt action.

Just a though, up to you how you do it.

You sure you want to put your expensive barrels through that kind of torture? I mean you've repeatedly told us how you don't put cheap $200 S&J or NEA barrels on your guns and that's why you won't subject them to the horror of Norinco ammo so it seems a little contradictory for you to "shoot them like they were made to be shot" ;)
Just a little friendly ball-busting. I like the idea of this thread and I don't want to derail it.

My rifles get fed a lot of ammo, I just won't shoot crap Norinco throught them. I have lot's of American Eagle black box and red box and a bunch of S&B 55gr. Going to have to buy more PMC M855 LAP, my ACR likes it and supplies are dwindling.
I'm actually looking forward to running a few different types of ammo through the 12 inch PWS, I haven't actually done much testing with it. I just shoot it and play.
The 6.5 is so new I haven't even gotten all the kinks worked out yet. Looking forward to seeing how well it will shoot.

I'm looking forward to seeing this challenge as it will possibly affect what rifle I buy but I just wanted to say this.

After spending some time lurking in this section of the forum I've decided about two thirds of you genuinely like having fun and helping others. The other third will do whatever you can to start an argument and prove you're right because your opinion is always the right one.

There's also some French dude that strokes the ####e out if his ego all day long.

Great combo for very cheap ( almost like shooting 22 LR ), reliable and fun... I win nothing with that target but it is a very consistent combo, the awfull trigger have you force to concentate more than usual to get results.... JP.

This test was made loading 10 LAR-15 and using only a front bag for support with no rear bag, shooting with aiming between each shot but still fast enough... The whole 100 rounds under 4 minutes... This test is very satistactory for a low cost rig using low chain food ammo... Got a lot of respect for the little chinese AR and is counterpart ammo... JP.

Wen I was looking for my first ar I was wondering how it would shoot with the bulk ammo I had but couldn't find a anwser before I both one. This kinda tread would have ben helpful. Aldo as some have pointed out it does not mean that 2 identical rifle will both shoot good with the same ammo, it is still a good indicator.

I think your spell check is broken ;)
Fixed it for you.

Correct though, just because someone does well with a certain rifle and ammo combination doesn't mean another identical rifle will shoot that ammo well. We also have to consider that some people shoot a lot better than others.
This challenge is just for fun and shouldn't be taken too seriously. Results will not really prove anything other than that some of us actually do make it out to the range once in a while when we aren't logged in on this site.

100 M
Ruger SR 556 16 inch barrel - 4x ACOG TA-01 NSN
1st 5 shots were hand loads using 55 grain V max for comparison to show my best.
next 10 rds were Remington UMC bulk 55 grain, the other 5 weren't for comparison just quick shots. I kept track of all shots through spotting scope
Sandbagged on barrel only

Was out at the range 2 days ago and had some fun.
Best group of the day was from my 12 inch PWS shooting Black Hills Match 77gr.
Here is the target, was shooting off a rest at 100yds and using my Elcan Specter DR at 4x

My 6.5 inch AR also gave me a little surprise shooting the same ammo.
Here is the target from it.

This was done with a Burris 2-7. I probably could have done a little better but I wasn't expecting much and wasn't really taking the time I should have. I'll give it another try next time I'm out.

I know, I asked for five 5 shot groups but there wasn't time and the Black Hills fodder is expensive. Now that I know the PWS can shoot that well I'll do some load development on it once I find a good load for the ACR. I've never tried quality ammo in the PWS, it's always been fed AE black box and S&B 55gr FMJ and done well with it. I wasn't expecting to see sub moa from a 12 inch piston rifle. :D

Why, oh why are so many groups out in no mans land?

If I understand no mans land correctly it's because I have my scope zero'd with a different ammo and I'm not going to waste ammo zeroing for an ammo I don't plan to use regularly.
If you want I'll center the scope next time and make another couple groups ;)

I don't think MK262 could be considered bulk, it says match right on the box and is over $1/shot. I just had to show what a black rifle can do with good ammo. Next time out I'll try to fill some targets with FMJ and post those pics. The other day I was out primarily to help a buddy figure out his SL8-4 and see if it was capable of grouping the way he expected it to when he bought it. I just squeezed off a few groups while he was letting his rifle cool down.
