I'm about to get into the SBR game, having put a deposit on a Daniel Defense MilSpec+ Mk18 (the brown one).
My friend has a budget Norinco C8-like SBR, and when he brings it to the range, and it is noticeably louder than everything else that's shooting on the line, including lots of 30-cals. Not quite "F__k you, everyone else" loud, but something I'd like to limit if I can when I get the DD.
I've researched the forum and Google, but most of what I find is either US-based silencer/suppressor stuff (not legal here), or reviewers focus on flash reduction and not sound.
The two main brands I keep seeing are the Smith Vortex, which seems to hands-down win the flash-reducing competitions, but it's hard to find sound reduction. There's the Noveske KX3 Flaming Pig that has mixed reviews, but many say it is just a big heavy block of metal that does not do what it promises.
Without getting into a legal debate, and comparing us to Europe where suppressors are mandatory, does anyone know of a SBR solution that works to lesson some sound while staying inside the rules? I'm hoping there is some sort of creative way to break up the sound waves or direct the powder in such a way that it solves the problem in a different way than a silencer/suppressor.
(For clarification, I am not asking for the impossible, just even something that could help with a few decibels).
Thank you.
