Review: XCR keymod - 2 session, 350 round review - Newb

im guessing cr5 you refer to me saying my sr22r had less failure stock then 2 in 800 as per your xcr, i did run a wet wipe in the chamber every few hundred rounds and a lil oil only because of the nature of rimfire, and probably had a couple in 1000 rounds plus. my sr22r works flawlessly now, its been running great after the polish. i bought 6 cases from eagle hunting and i only have 4 left. ill replace the extractor soon and im well over 10 000 rounds without a jam. in the 22 action rifle match i believe i was the only one without any ftf or any problems at all. i did however run a wet wipe every few hundred rounds and add some oil :) o ya and i stoned the trigger for a 4 poundish pull. awesome little gun, id recommend one to everyone. ive also polished my 870 and glock 21 gen 4, the bushy is so awesome that it doesnt need anything but a lil oil.

I don't own an XCR but I've put a lot of rounds through 4 different ones from an early first gen to the newest model before the keymod plus quite a few through an XCR-M.
I like my ACR better :)

gunna throw my 2 cents in to this review as I just took my XCR keymod out for the very first time! broke her in on gas setting 4 for about 60 rounds as per the manual. then went to gas setting 2 and it ran flawlessly for 250 more rounds not one single issue. it tossed brass within spec so I left it there, ill try 1 next time but am content as she sits. ran my questar LAR's flawlessly. I was hitting my 12X12 gong at 150 yards all day long with the irons. I am super stoked! My only complaint is the LOP is too short for me so Im going to build a spacer to go in between the stock and the rubber pad. I am so happy I got the heavy barrel because OMG does that thing heat up fast! I didnt realize it untill I put it down on the plastic table I was using and she melted into the table OOPS! good way to test out the finish I guess the melted plastic came off easily! All in all I could not be happier with this rifle. I am already jonzen to shoot it again!

Barrels get hot fast on all the rifles when you roll that many down the pipe. Just don't grab the barrel with your hand, or you gonna loose some skin! LOL

What kel tec is a POS? A RFB does not fit in to that catagory

Glad you're enjoying it as much as I am. Are you planning any optics?

Took mine to the range yesterday, love the 5.56 config (Gen 2 with Gen 3/4 Upgrades). It didn't cycle the steel case MFS properly for the first mag but flip the gas over to 3 and she was singin'. Do not regret my purchase at all.

Ran mine steadily for 150 more rounds yesterday on gas setting 2 and it was chugging away no problems! The barrel gets hot FAST but on the other side of the coin, it cools off surprising fast as well.

this is good to know because the gun show is in town and they are selling 20 round boxes for 7 bux.

Not to hijack the thread, but I found a good article a while back on shooting steel case ammo in the AR 15. It's a short read, and explains why you have to bump up the gas setting in your XCR.

Taking the new 5.56 out today for the first time!
