semi-auto M249 Saw by Norinco

M-249s are fun especially when you get to choose your flavor ;-) As soon as I press the trigger my #### eating perma grin starts like a ###### fueled hardon err not that I know what that's like;-)

What about an m240? Or m60 or are those phib by name?

they were supposed to make a semi auto M60 but production was suspended because military contracts for M60's took over production. By M240 I assume you mean FN MAG

Yup fn mag /m240/c6/L7 sorry m240 was the first thing that came to mind when reading about an m249 i should have used what its actually called

Problem is I doubt canada would let any newly manufactured open bolts into the country. They would have to be closed bolt design, which sort of takes the fun out of owning the firearm for me (I like collecting them for their mechanics not their looks). Also couldn't you link a lot of links together, but every 5 you add a spent case or make a dummy round? (Sure not as fun, but you can pretend you are clearing a jam...) Or is that still considered a prohibited device?

Stating the obvious here, but a C9/M249/FN Minini would be a POS in a single-shot role.

The whole purpose of the platform is to be an automatic machinegun, and everything about its design is around this purpose. The feed system, the bolt, the fact that it is belt-fed, etc. Not to mention the trade off of pros and cons that have been built into it to achieve sustained fire.

The biggest con trade-off is that it has sacrificed anything close to single shot accuracy in order to achieve better auto performance. Engineering-wise, if China can't pull off a well-made AR, how in the heck are they going to copy a complex MG with two separate feeds?

IMO, if there is any legitimate request for China, it is for them to produce a simple 50 cal tube gun (as per other threads). That is something that simple copycat design could achieve, and it would actually let people experience something new, who can't afford $5k+ for a 50 cal. Asking them to take a complex design and making it single shot, just to have a fake MG for the look? I don't think it would sell in enough numbers to justify the start-up.

I didn't start this thread to get negative responses I'm sure their are many like mind people out there that loved the C9 and would love to have a chance to own their own version yes I agree 5 rounds would suck that was never my point it was just asking if it would be possible to see them come into production I don't understand why threads have to be bombed by people that just have nothing to contribute can we please just keep it to the topic at hand thanks

Simple economics, for Norinco to tool up a production line to produce a product like this will not be cheap and the Canadian civilian market is relatively small, they will never able to recoup their cost in a timely manner, unless someone can commits to initial order of 5,000.

There are so many parts to the C-9/M-249 its not a simple weapon like an AR or M-14. And with 5 round capacity in Canada, even belt feed it would make for an annoying day on the range. This is not a weapon that was designed to shoot at targets it is a platoon support weapon, designed to lay down covering fire, in order to keep the heads of the enemy down as the platoon advances to attack or defend while the platoon is in retreat. It can accept AR mags, but the M-249/C-9 doesn't like them and will frequently jam, it is only meant as a last resort.

It would be cool to own one though, but at $10,000 a piece, I'll never own one.

you are wrong, it is a SECTION support weapon. The C6 GPMG is the Platoon Support weapon.
