I am having a lot of fun with my CX4 Storm, but am not really keen on the trigger. I have been looking at the SierraPapa trigger/hammer/spring upgrade kit. Has anyone installed this kit? Is it worth it? Will I notice the difference?

Looking for advice.

Hmmm... Am I the only CX4 owner here? Well, I ordered the trigger kit today. It should be here in about a week. I will update this thread with the results.

I've been shooting mine as-is for 4 years (restricted). No complaints about it.

As for Sierra Papa triggers, I heard lots of people love it. Just make sure you let him know how old your CX4 is (when it was made?). Seems there were tweaks to the trigger on the new batches of CX4 so they may not work properly. (commonly stated that the hammer doesn't lock back)

I read that too. They include a sear clip to adjust for the difference in trigger housing length. Mine is a new model so I suspect I will have to use this clip. They are very easy to deal with and helpful at SierraPapa. They told me that once I received my kit to call them and they could step me through the process if I needed it.

So no issues with importing? How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking? I have waited almost 4 years now to get one. It looks like they have the green light to export.

I'm also very interested in one of these for my CX4. Staying tuned for an installation + function review. :)
As the previous poster said, how did it work for importing from the states?

The trigger kit had no problems being delivered to Canada. Of course I had to pay customs (#%$@!) but that was only $21. When I spoke with SierraPapa on the phone, they said that they were worried as someone from Saskatchewan told them they had to have special import papers from the Canadian government. To me, that sounded a little suspect. I called the CFO, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the CBSA. The CFO was very helpful as was the Ministry. They both said that there was no additional paperwork required for a trigger and hammer kit. The CBSA wasn't quite sure what I was talking about - go figure. Sierra actually gave me a break on the shipping for finding out about exporting for them.

The trigger kit itself $176.50USD. I installed it today. It took about 30 minutes mostly due to my clumsy attempts to get the trigger spring back in place. Once you figure out the trick, it goes pretty smoothly. The hammer was a breeze to install. You definitely need the sear enhancer if you have a newer model CX4. I tried mine with a snap cap in the chamber without the sear enhancer and it seems like it fires when you release the slide. With the sear enhancer installed, no such issues exist.

The trigger feels much better even dry firing.

I will be taking it out to the range on Thursday so I will have a range update then.

If you watch the videos on the SierraPapa site, it's pretty easy to remove the trigger assembly. Other than a pin punch, you really don't need any tools to do this upgrade.

Range Report!

Ok, I went to the range today to test out the trigger/hammer upgrade. This trigger is a VAST improvement over the stock plastic one. Make no mistake, it doesn't have the clean break of a good 1911 .45, but it is much easier to control than the stock trigger. I didn't test the specific pull weight but I would say its about half of factory. The motion of the trigger is smooth and consistent allowing easily repeatable shots in relatively rapid succession. Even the feel on your finger is a huge improvement. With just a bipod (Atlas) and a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot I was able to get a 1 inch grouping at 50 yards. At 15 yards, I was able to put 5 rounds in the same hole. I was spanning my shots with about 3 seconds at 15 yards and 5 seconds at 50 yards. I'd like to think that it wasn't all in the trigger and hammer, but this is a very nice improvement for me with this gun. I can't wait to get back to the range with my CX4!

All in all, I am very happy with this upgrade. If you have a CX4, a couple of hundred dollars, and are not afraid to get your hands a little dirty, I highly recommend it. You won't regret it.
