Folks I currently have a long barrelled, a receiver B-square mounted scope system with a Bushnell low powered optic sight on my (older) Remington 870 Express Magnum that I use for turkey hunting. It is too heavy and awkward to carry. I really enjoy that hunt and would like to pick up a shorter barrel with adjustable chokes and some sort of a sight system. Can someone suggest a good after market 12 gauge turkey barrel for 3 - 3 1/2 shells that will make a good choice for me?

Thanks in advance.

I have a 20" RemChoke VR bbl for my 870SP. Why wouldn't that work with a turkey choke, saddle mount and a low powered scope?

Thanks vpsale - appreciate that.

SuperCud - Got a saddle mount scope right now and I find it a real pain in the butt. If I want to hunt ducks in the fall I got to take it off. Being left handed it actually has cut my trigger finger during recoil.

Does anyone know if any of our supporting vendors have that barrel in stock?

PITB aside, it probably would work though. I'd like to go to Maine or back to Ont. sometime for turkeys and might use that set-up.

I use a saddle scope mount (not B-Square) and simply take out the two screws and replace with the OEM trigger assy pins, to go scopeless. I don't know the manufacturer of my saddle, but the screws are sized to fit snuggly in the pin holes. A shorter VR Remchoke bbl with clip on fiber optic sights might make a less expensive conversion for you.

The supermag barrel may be wrong for an "older" 870. You can get a 2-3/4 or a 3" barrel for the older guns, with the interchangeable chokes from a number of places, Brownell's comes to mind as a place to quickly look at what is readily available. There is likely a listing somewhere on Remington's or Hastings site of what is available. Once you have found what you need, it can be ordered through most gun shops in your area, or through one of the CGN vendors.
