Ok so I'm new to the site and have been reading a lot of posts and trying to get as much info as possible before I make a solid decision. Now I'd like to get some feedback on the choices I've made.

Here's what I'm looking at.
XCR-L Lightweight keymod 5.56 w/18.6" barrel in white
Adding a GL-Shock buttstock, pistol grip, ergonomic foregrip.
Burris XTR II 1.5x8x28 combo w/Fastfire III and PEPR mount
Rob Arms conversion kit to 7.62x39

This is going to be my first and probably only rifle so I wanted to be sure I had all that I would need. It will be used as a range/target shooter and a varmint gun in 223 and the 7.62 conversion will be put in when I go hunting.

Need some feedback. Be honest, I can take it. If his is a bad idea all around, I'd rather know that before pony up the dough.

It all comes down to what you prefer. The only thing I would suggest is not getting the conversion kit. For the same price you could get a decent bolt action for hunting. And will get you much better accuracy.

2 is ALWAYS better than one... lol

I owned an XCR in .223 with a 7.62 conversion and I ended up selling the 7.62 in favour of a proper hunting rifle. The XCR was good, but no where near even a gun like a Savage Axis or something along those lines. Its not light, so carrying it in the woods will be a burden.

On the other hand, having the 7.62 kit does allow you to shoot pretty much any cheap surplus ammo you can get your hands on. Whatevers cheaper between .223 and 7.62 you'd be good for so thats something to consider.
