If you can find an older 870 Wingmaster it will be of UTMOST quality and will do you for a lifetime. It will likely only handle 2 3/4" shells, but for clays and small game thats all thats needed. 3" + shells really only factor in if you're using it as a dedicated goose or turkey gun. My gun 2 3/4" inch guns have shot many a clay, rabbit, duck and upland bird.

My Wingmaster's a 2 3/4" receiver but a 3" chamber so I can do 3" shells but, only one at a time.
 
Thanks guys. Ive looked at the winchesters aswell and the style doesnt much carry my fancy and i havent looked into benelli to much other then the super nova in all honesty
 
Yep thats the plan, going with my moms bf out to silverdale hopefully this upcoming weekend then over to my good friends for his may 2-4 pig roast to shoot some skeet. So hopefully get to shoot a variety of guns including pumps over the next 2 weeks
