Tavor Timney Trigger Touchdown!

Definitely a worthwhile upgrade. I need to find a fish scale or something to demonstrate pull weight!

Here you go TV-PressPass.

My Timney arrived a few days ago. After a quick, simple install, I'm very impressed with the Timney trigger, clean, crisp brake, a bit quicker reset, with a marked improvement in pull weight.

I have a Gen 2 with the later version of the trigger, which I know is somewhat better than the earlier trigger packs.

I'm hoping to get out to the range this weekend with some quality ammo (Black Hills 68 gr match) to see how it performs.

Idk. But Brian deletes every one of my comments on his forum, even if the are not rude. It is starting to piss me off, so I have a giessele on order from RDSC. Might be here in as little as 2 weeks. If it shows up before the Timney, or confirmed delivery dates are close I will be dumping my preorder with him and getting my cash back. I had ut most respect for Brian untill recently. Now he is pretty far down the list... most of the trouble has been Timney playing the second half of the first group as second fiddle to the remington owners.

I have a Gen 1 Tavor from Canada Ammo's first shipment. On my digital trigger gauge the original trigger averaged 8lbs 7.2oz, and the new Timney trigger now averages 4lbs 12.4oz. The new heavier hammer spring is on its way, will see if that has any effect on trigger pull weight.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Mine dropped in, an I started plunking them in the black at 200 like clockwork - without the mental headache of trying to work through that brutal trigger pull from the factory unit... I am not going to bad mouth the Giselle or tell anyone what to do...but the Timney trigger has worked just fine for me. A coyote is taking his chances if he comes within 200 yards of this cowboy...

There is absolutely no reason it should hit me... is there?

have defended Brian religious in almost all my posts untill now against others who were blaming him for the delays. But in doing so I have pointed out that Timney is doing a piss poor job with these triggers.

I don't even want to know how someone could contradict me saying that givens how many failures to fire it is haveing, how rough around the edges and unfinished some of them look, as well as the fact that we are still paying $400 for it!

Dont even get me started on the prior delays let alone the more recent additional month delay because of the remington recall.

The saying goes you get what you pay for. Well at this rate Timney will be sending me a rebate for $50 and all I have at this point is $200 down with Brian.

Timney could have prvented all of these problems.

How you ask?
•extensively test the trigger with various brands/types of ammo. This would have caught the light primer strike issue either before, or early on into production.
•the rough finishing should have been looked after at the factory. How many lambos have left the factory with runs in their paint? None. Chevys? None. Toyotas? STILL NONE.
•the prior delays could have been prevented as will. I mean just how overly optimistic do you have to be in order to miss your short term goal/delivery date by 2+ months. And then only actually deliver the 1/2 of the triggers instead of all at once which was what I signed on for. I decided that was okay and I would let it slip, because my trigger as well as 34 others were to be only 1 week behind. Now even though our order was first, apparently there is no first come first serve at Timney, as the Remington recall has delayed our triggers untill early June.

I mean come on, have you really been feeling the love from Timney? Because I feel I am fairly close to being mugged at gun point.

Hopefully it is a Tavor with a Timney, if he is loaded with surplus I am still safer 7%+ safer than canadian gun laws make us due to the failure rate with that trigger.

So, you haven't figured out yet that 99% of the time anything firearms related coming into Canada is going to be late? Almost every single thing in high demand the retailers pre-sell or take deposits on based on manufacturer speculated delivery date is inaccurate. You should just be happy it's only a month or two later than they said.
As for the light springs? Well that happens a lot with many manufacturers, they have test ammo and as long as it works with that they are happy, it's an easy fix so don't sweat the small stuff.
The rough finish? I haven't seen a picture of what you are talking about but as long as it goes into the rifle and works who cares. You can't see it once it's installed.

Living in Canada we need to learn to be patient. We are always going to come in last when a manufacturer has to fill orders. We are only a small fraction of the sales they make in the US. If you were them would you take care of the local market that makes you all your money or would you send off your product through the pain in the a$$ export system in place just to make a couple dollars?

I can't wait to see this trigger turn a 3-4moa rifle into a 1moa rifle
Where are the pics of targets from the guys that have theirs already?

True about the wait period, but that typically aplies to obtaining a nod from the RCMP. These do not need any "okay". I get that #### happens and they had to re-tool etc, but it just really pisses me off that I am being put as second fiddle. THAT was what really struck a nerve with me.

There is pics of the rough edges etc in one of the threads, might be an isolated case but shows quality control is poor then.

As for the springs, if they are not included in the future triggers, and it doesn't 100% cure the problem, I find that to be real reassuring my money was well spent.

I dont expect these to change the moa one bit, that said these always were 2 moa rifles with the right ammo. 3-4 with cheap bulk plinking rounds. The only thing the trigger will fix is your user dynamics. In theory it should help accuracy off bags because your focus will be on aiming, not trying to do bench presses with your index finger. It will help with the offhand shots forsure.

Everything has to be accuracy for you...

In this case only because owners in past posts were blaming their 8 pound trigger for why the rifle couldn't shoot tight groups and raving about how a better trigger would drastically tighten up groups.
I don't expect much change in the accuracy department but the rifle will be nicer to shoot.

I've stated many times that these and rifles like the XCR and ACR are battle rifles and that 4 moa is exactly what they were designed to deliver. If they can shoot better than that then that's great but I don't expect much more. If you can hit a 12 inch plate at 300yds your rifle is working perfectly.

I actually think it's funny when guys spout off about how a $2000+ rifle should be sub moa for that price. They don't realize that cost has no relation to accuracy. We are paying a premium for the non restricted status and the fact that they are in demand. Stop buying them for a while and the prices would drop, that will never happen though because so many people "must have" the newest thing. Just look at the T-97 and the non restricted ACR, the T-97 had a huge pre-order list and sold for a premium then after the initial batch went through and sales started dropping off they dropped the price $100. XCR was the same when it was first released, ACR was $3000 new and I had a dealer offer me a brand new one for $2500 just before I found the deal on my used one I picked up. Non restricted ACR is what $2900? Wait 6 months after it is released and it will be $2700 then a couple months later it will be $2600. They are still making money on them even after lowering the prices. That's why I hate these stupid pre-order lists. Retailers rape us and create false demand, especially when they don't ask for a non refundable deposit. When they do that people put their names on multiple lists creating an even bigger false demand which keeps prices high. I think they should just wait for them to arrive then put them on the shelf and sell first come first serve.
