147 gr bullet with W 231 I have 6 or more manuals but none use the W231 with 147 gr bullet. This is the powder I have and would like to use. Any suggestions? FWIW the gun is a moded 17 Glock.

It used to be in the Hodgdon reloading site but they must have dropped it because other powders work better with the heaver bullets in 9MM

you did not say Jacketed??? or Cast Lead ????? it will change the data

if it is cast I have data

if jacked the win book has no Data for 231 and the heavies

pm inbound

Bullets are WW jacketed 147. I have the Winchester manual also. I looked long and hard before posting. Maybe I can locate a can of WSF. I have 600 of these bullets.

For 147gr JHP/FMJ Zero projectiles, I load:

3.5gr Titegroup @ 1.08-1.10" COAL
or
3.8gr Win231/HP38 @ 1.08-1.10" COAL

Use this in my CZ SP01 Shadow, Beretta 92FS, and Sig 226

I would start @ 3.2 gr. Work your way up @ 0.2 gr increments to maybe 4.0 gr. loading 5-rounds per weight increment. As you fire with heavier powder load, fire one at a time with magazine removed after loading just to be on the safe side. I use W231 - 3.4 gr, 135 gr coated Hardcast on my SP01 with stock recoil spring. I've done 3.2 grs, still cycles normally. I've been using Bullseye, Titegroup and W231 and loads seems to be identical. Sorry, I have no chrono data.

Safe shooting!

personally i load 3.5 gr of w231 with campro 147 at 1.110 (never chronod though)

tested in glock 17, M&P 9, NP34, and CZ75 (i think its a 13 lb recoil spring)

cycles just fine, very soft recoil - my GF uses this load
