.22 shortage!?

Canadian tire and walmart are far from stocked but I was able to pick a few thousand rounds at a semi LGS of cci mini mags and some bulk boxes of federal right off a shelf and there was plenty to spare. Owner told me he has no concerns and laughed when I said We were shy on anything locally.

They manage better or have fewer rimfire addicts maybe? Prices were high at $35 for bulk federal 10 boxes of 50 kind not loose bulk and $8 for mini mags. But they had tons.
 
Yep same out west!!! CCI @ $8+ for a 100 brick. Almost no bulk packs to be found. I was watching a CT store which was too far for me to drive to, they had 27 cases of M22. In less than a week they were sold out. Like me, there are a lot of people stock piling.

How much would a stock pile consist of? I prolly have 5k rounds and a bucket of newer Remington. An average shoot for me is about 3-400 shots for an afternoon so I figured I was good for 3 months or so.

Sadly supply in my town is almost non-existent at this time. Nobody has much of anything. I was really happy to find what I did. I wasn't around when there was a 'shortage' last time. From what I can gather this isn't the first nor will it be the last.

I'd like to know where people are finding their goods and prices. Online seems to be completely dry. Canada Ammo had a case of federal for $250 at one point and they had an awesome deal with the case and that norinco match rifle. I should of jumped on that, in another thread people are saying its a killer little piece of kit at a value price. That $500 would of had me shooting all summer :)
 
I occasionally get Winchester bulk packs in Walmart for $21-22 for the 555 round packs. My local hardware store has tons of Federal 500round packs and the Winchester packs as well, they are closer to $25 though. I have plenty to last me a while at home, so don't buy any unless it is cheap.
 
My local outdoor shop is stacked with all kinds of brand but the closest CanTire is pretty much empty.

Picked up some CCI quiet so I can plink at my fathers without bothering the neighbors, is it just here or is this stuff that expensive everywhere?! Paid $59 for a brick :/

Yes, that is Federal Auto Match 325's at $21.99/box. Spotted at WSS Calgary this afternoon.
