Rifle will be Browning Micro Hunter 20 inch barrel.

Going to use Nosler brass, and 140gr AB. Hoping this cover Deer,Elk, and Moose.(12 year olds 1st Big Game Rifle)

1st powder I am trying is H4350 because I have some on shelf.

I also have Varget.

I was thinking of trying some Benchmark or H4198 as they are faster burning then both Varget and 4350 and might get me more velocity out of 20 inch tube?

I am partial to Hog. Powders but I know alot of guys like 760, and R15,17, and19.

I have had great performance from my 7-08 with 140 gr accubonds and H4350.

The only way to tell if another powder will do better/worse is to try it "in your rifle", and shoot over a chronygraph, while shooting groups.

Max velocity isnt always the best indicator of a load combo.

Good luck and hope your 12 year old has the time of thier life!

Barrel length has no impact on powder choice. Of the powders you mentioned, Varget and H4350 are your best bets for 140 gr bullets.

?.... Tac and Big Game are very temp consistant because they are ball powders made first for military use in 7,62x51Nato and other rifle cartriges like 5,56x45Nato with heavy bullet (Tac). They are made in Belgium in Poudrerie de Clermont a plant who belong to the French SNPE and they use a modified Olin brevet. The plant was put at work during the cold war. They even make one very slow ball, slower than Magnum for use in 338Lap and .50Bmg.

I went through IMR4895 (not great), Varget (better), then IMR4350 (the best to date). Chose the partitions though and found Nosler's recommendation of 2610fps seems to have the best accuracy for me. I would like to find some Ramshot to try too so if you find some please let me know!

Was out yesterday testing a new load for my 7mm-08 M700 SPS with a 20" barrel. Bullet used was a 139gr Hornady BTSP Interlock, powder was IMR4064. Best grouping was 42gr even, cloverleafed the four bullets at .5" at 100 yards. Best group I've ever shot in my life so needless to say I'm sticking with it!

Very nice group.....did you check at 200 and 300 yards to see if group will hold?

Good question 350 Mag, I unfortunately did not... Only loaded about 25 rounds, five each starting at 40.5gr up to the max of 42.5 . On my next trip to the range I will exclusively use 42grs and shoot at 200 and 300 yards. The truth is however that at my deer hunting camp the opportunity to shoot beyond 100 yards comes very rarely, still, I'd like to see how this load does at the longer ranges. Thanks for the tip, I'm relatively new at reloading and appreciate the input.

I use RL19 in My rem778 with a short brl and get good velocity with nosler 140 bt(2750fps) and with hornady interlocks 154g(2650fps)

Awesome group!. One of my buddy's get the same kinda results with GMX 139's and 4064.

I'm still working on a load with Varget and IMR4895 using Accubond 140's. I'm thinking some more test loads with 4064/IMR4350/H414/W760. Any thoughts?.

Thanks d6dan, like I said before I'm just learning the ropes myself so I just keep slugging away to see what works. My previous load used W760 powder with Winchester 140gr Silvertips, hardly a tackdriver but I used to harvest a couple of deer in the past. What surprised me with this load is the great variation in group size with just 0.5 grains difference! Another rookie mistake that I made was ending up with a couple of loaded rounds with slightly crushed shoulders, did not pick it up when reloading but when trying to chamber the SPS refused to accept them. The Accubond is a great bullet, please share when you dial in the right load.
