so i picked a hand gun up off a co-worker.
actually its not the first time, but i got to thinking....

last time we did the transfer, then i got a STATT to bring it from his house to mine (2 blocks).

could a fella not just do this.
since the gun is currently under his LTATT just have him take it to the range on the transfer day then i just bring it home since after the transfer it will be under my LTATT and we both belong to the same range?

i know its silly, thinking about this, just sometimes sitting on hold for a hour just dosnt sound appealing.

just a thought that was rolling around in my head.

no you cannot.

i can throw a rock and hit the post office, but still have to get a STATT to bring it there.

the only time its not needed is transferring it from person to person who lives in the same household.

If you both happen to be at the range, yes. But the loophole is that you're "not supposed to" if that is the purpose of the trip. Same with borrowing someones gun as well.

In the end it all comes down to the opinion of the CFO, officer, and judge you have to deal with should something happen. Is it likely to be a problem? No. Is it worth the better safe than sorry for the effort? Of course.

Assume no good will or that the authorities will let it slide because it's "no big deal" like a matter of a few feet to the post office.
They WILL spike you to the cross on a so-called minor technicality.
We're dealing with a very anti-gun activist bureaucracy that would rather you NOT have guns or a PAL.
These people definitely aren't our (gun owners) friends and were appointed to their position precisely because they are both connected and anti-gun.
Their ostensible mandate is public safety (and they'll all tell you this) but anybody with brains enough to tie their own shoe laces who has picked up a newspaper or turned on a TV set in the past 20 years knows their true mission is to implement the true purpose and intent of bill c68 which is in the long term to disarm the Canadian public.
I make sure I'm covered by an in-writing ATT (short or long term) for every second and for every inch I transport any restricted/prohibited outside the "place of registration" (my home).

I wish they would throw out ATT's...

And I wish that my Lotto 649 numbers will win this week.

The Conservatives won't do it and I'm f'n sure Trudeau lite and the LPC won't.

Heck, the mounties won't even throw out the LGR data as required by law.

The anti-gun bureaucracy will even defy Parliament and the Minister of Public Safety to carry out their disarmament agenda.

That should give you an idea of what we're up against.

There is really no need for it. You should be able to travel the same way with both NR and Restricted. I guess they think that one gun is more 'dangerous' than another if you don't have papers for it. It's enough sanctioning the responsible gun owners.

False, restricted means we are now threats to society.

i hope you know im joking

I just today got my ltatt. I've had three perfectly good restricteds sitting in my locker for a month or more and haven't been able to do anything more than take them out and look at them. Now I'm finally free to take them to my club. If you can call that freedom.

I'm going to be joining the R circus soon in ontario. It's gonna be next year before I can even plan on joining ipsc and shooting.

The bureaucops have absolutely no control over real criminals and while generally not overly smart on the average they are at least smart enough to know that.
The real criminals (the drug pushers, rapists, gang-bangers, burglars, criminal bike gangs) just scoff at the bureaucops and our legal system like the jokes that they both are and carry handguns anywhere, anytime and any way they want.
Us law abiding guys are the only ones that take the bureaucops seriously.
The bureaucops gotta pick on somebody to make it look to the public like they are doing their jobs so they pick on the "softest" targets (the ones that don't fight or shoot back) - US.
Hassling paper criminals is a lot easier and safer than dealing with real criminals.

Unfortunately you can not.

Read what you att says, it will say this:

transport from wayupnorth's house to all ranges in AB, gunsmiths, border crossings, and return to wayupnorth's house.

It doesn't say transport from the range to wayupnorth's house.

Which could net you as charge under section 86 of the CCC with prison terms upto 2 years.
