Where to get 303 bullets for reloading?

Hi guys and girls. I am sadly short of 174 gn 303 @ .312 for reloading. Everybody in the world seems to be out of stock. I can get 150 gn and have a lot of those but would sure like some 174 or mayby even 180 gn.
If anybody knows of a source I would greatly appreciate it. I posted on the reloading forum.
 
hornady is out of production... possibly for years as they try to catch up with more main stream bullets.

same with a lot of other companies...

I bought out cabals and whole sale edmonton... a grand total of about 500 rounds
 
I got some 150 gn from tradex a couple of weeks ago. That was the only size they had. I figured I had best get some more from then today,, all out. I do the gun shows but never much luck. Privi site shows they sell components but they only list .311 BT.
I might have to get into casting. I cast for my Snider Enfield so I might just have to try that route. I have never shot cast from a rifle befor. Something to learn there now.
 
Sadly, 99.9% of all the bullet production everywhere seems to be going into the ultra-popular calibers - .308, .223, 9mm, .45acp, etc. What little production there is for us, goes into factory loaded ammo. And even that is getting damned scarce in a lot of "odd" calibers.

Those of us with guns chambered in anything more than slightly out of the ordinary are basically screwed for the foreseeable future.
 
It would be nice to see Bell import Prvi components as well as loaded ammo. Prvi does sell their ammunition components separately. I think a couple of drums of brass and bullets sold bulk would go very quickly, same with 8mm and 762x54r.
 
I lucked in to 200 .303 bullets a few weeks ago and have not seen a thing since. There is plenty of .308 locally to go around, but nothing in .303 that doesn't cost a ridiculous amount to ship if you can actually find it.

I have a box of Hornady 174gr bullets that I'll sell. It hasn't been opened yet
 
You might try Higginson Powders who deal extensively in Hornady bullets. You could also look for both the Sierra 180gr spitzer and Speer 180gr round nose for the .303. The Sierras are a very accurate bullet in most LE rifles, pretty much on par with the Sierra 174gr match bullet. The 180gr Speer is a fine hunting bullet and accurate as well.
 
Like others said, check Tradex and call Higginsons and see what's available.

I do believe Sierra has suspended production of the 174 Grn matchking in .311 but the .311 180 grn Gameking should be available. They make a 150 grn as well.

As for Hornady, we are S.O.L. As stated, they have temporarily suspended production. Thankfully I stocked up on the 150 grn .312's when they still had them.

In the mean time there is still S&B and Privi ammo available, though I find it priced a bit high priced for what it is.

You can also try bulk .310 bullets with a flat base, ie: surplus. They should work just fine in a .311 bore.
 
Cheap 7.62 x 39 and an inertia hammer bullet puller gets me the powder and bullet for heavy plinking loads.

Need a seating die to push bullets in a touch to break the shellac seal. Then they pop right out with the puller.

I have a bucket of range pick ups for brass, so with a new primer, it works out to about 15c a round.
 
All of the above are good but I have tried every store in the Vancouver area and all of the sponsers on the site with no go. A fellow nutter just pm ed me with a few boxes vailable so I might be in luck. I am also going to try cast bullets from the bullet barn.
I am going on the Calgary vintage shoot in June and my P14 does exceptionally well on 174 grn and seems to match original ballistics a bit better than any of the 150 gn stuff.

Do you use a filler at all?
 
Sierra Pro-Hunter is their flatbase, also their cheapest .303 bullet. They are available in 150- and 180-grain weights.... if you can find them.

I am not hunting, so likely it's gonna be cast for me for the remainder of this year.

WISH somebody would strike a deal with POF or IOF: both have the old flatbase Mark VII still in production by the zillion. It would be the perfect target bullet for Service Rifle shoots.... if they would sell us a few tons. I am NOT planning on breaking open my LAST sealed box from Defence Industries!
 
I still have 3 LBs in the safe that I bought some 3 yrs ago and haven't yet fired. I have a Savage that didn't get fired until yesterday. This one is interesting in that it is an all-Savage 50C rifle with a mirror bore in very nice cosmetic condition, but with an Ishapore screw in the forestock. It obviously went to India, got "screwed" there, and was very lightly used, if at all. As it was never overhauled it makes me wonder why they bothered to 'screw" it. I decided to break into my stash of .303 ball to inaugurate this one, using both the South African metric marked ammo and Belgian FN ball, both berdan primed, that I've had around for a while. I've still got a couple of boxes of Cdn DA 50 ball as well as a couple of boxes of the DIZ '43 ball that I drew from the military supply system in the late '70s for recreational shooting. We were still getting .30-06 ball and AP ammo from the system at that time. Being patriotic, I'll save these ones for the LBs. I've also got several bandoliers of the Greek HXP ball to use up. The nice thing about both the wartime DIZ and Greek ammo is that it is boxer primed and great for reloading. My eyes are still good enough for aperture sights, even the LE ones with their huge view of the world. My current resolution is to use up all of my .303 ball while the going is still good.
