I have been Attemping to reduce the amount of trigger pull and travel on my type 97. I had a new trigger connecting bar(or whatever it's called) made up that is just slightly shorter than the factory one. I took the factory bar and made a mark on the trigger and trigger guard from start to where the trigger breaks, then did the same with my new trigger bar then measured the difference. The results of doing this resulted in a 14.5 mm trigger pull with the factory bar installed and a 9 mm trigger pull with the new bar. I have shaved off 5mm of trigger pull with my new trigger bar. I am going to the range in a bit to test it out with live rounds to see if I can feel the difference when shooting.

Very nice!

I don't have my t97 in front of me, but wouldn't one be able to cut down is trigger bar?

I wish you could replace that whole plastic trigger mechanism with metal parts. Trigger seems to be a weak point here.

When you disassemble the rifle that trigger connector bar seems flimsy and fitting it back together finicky. Is this a difference between the PLA version and ours? That bit does not feel like a field maintained military rifle.

So I just got back from the range and the new trigger bar works great. Definitely an improvement. I can feel that the trigger pull is shorter and this resulted in better groupings aswell. Im going to have a few more bars of shorter lenghts made up to see if I can reduce the trigger pull even more. All in all I was greatly impressed by how this made my groupings smaller:)

Good work. As for the plastic trigger parts, don't bash it.. I know they've been seen as an improvement on the 10/22 platform even though I have to admit I prefer metal but that's mostly due to being old-fashioned. Also, some of us prefer to run p-mags ;)

Ok so I was able to make some more trigger bars shorter and was able to bring down the trigger pull to 6mm. This is a reducion in trigger pull from factory by over half. I am very impressed by how it feels now. Let me know what you think

Assembly and disassembly on my t97 is now a bit tighter due to the shorter bar. When taking off the hand guard from the receiver I have to pull the trigger a few times to get it to unhook the bar from the trigger. And for reassembly I slide the bar in, attch the trigger assembly to the bar, slide it in the receiver, install the safety, install the hand guard and takedown pin, then I use my finger to push on the trigger group where the bar attaches ahead a bit until the new bar clicks onto the trigger:):)
