I bought a box of 50 CCI Quiet 710 fps .22lr, and some Remington Subsonics which go at 1050 fps. Tried both, and found the CCI's were nice and quiet. I shot about 5 each, then thought wow this is great for the young boys to practice with, so I went back and bought 500 (a brick) more! A few weeks ago I was shooting them in an old German youth rifle that is 80+ years old, and I noticed no hit sound on the target after a shot, so I took the bolt out and checked the bore, and noticed the round got stuck at the end of the barrel. Shot some more and they worked fine, until the 7th or 8th shot, and one got stuck again. The rounds were grouping well at 160 ft+ so I was wondering why this was so, and figured it was an old gun and the head space was off and too much gas was getting out at the chamber. A few days ago I took out my CZ 452 Scout, and after 7 to 8 shots one got stuck. Got it out, cleaned it, then 7-8 shots later again a round got stuck.
I emailed CCI and told them about this, and the fact that I was getting good groups between rounds getting stuck, and they asked me if I was shooting in cold temperatures or shooting up. I told him it was 24 C up here in the great white north and I was shooting a target horizontally when it happened again. There response today was get a gun that conformed to ANSI specs (ie. an American gun) and I should be fine.
There are no warnings about bore requirements on the package or the website, so people beware, buy a European gun, CCI Quiets may not work in it, so buy American!
