I have more DD rails than any other mfg in my collection
Out of all my DD rails, my favorite is the RISII
The profile of the RISII feels the best for me out of all my DD rails and I much prefer the "closed off look " of the front ( see pick below of a 458 Socom barrel )
The ability to remove the bottom rail makes it much easier to install the gas block after the rail is mounted. In some instances the rail cannot slide over the gas block so you need to install it AFTER ( contrary to what the written install guide says )
The DD Light has clearance to slide the low profile Vltor style blocks after install, but he RIS IIs do not ( see pic above )
When installing larger than .750 profile barrels it takes some juggling of parts to get it all together
A .930 gas block is tight but does not actually touch
Only downside of the RIS II is the cost !

Buy the FDE RIS II if you can find it still! DD will not be letting any go to the civilian market, except on completed rifles, due to a massive SOCOM contract that they are fulfilling. I bought mine and couldn't be happier.
Except that all the Rails shipped to Canada have the NSN number that isn't correct. Unless you buy the complete rifle from DD. Then you get the same markings on the rails as the Americans get. Thanks, DD... GREAT products and quality but what kind of #### is that??? "Let's give the Canadians a slightly different product..."

The DD FDE rail doesn't match anything else that is FDE. I have a FDE PWS lower receiver which matches the Magpul FDE MIAD and CTR stock. But the DD rail is MUCH darker. I still like it and looks great, except in pictures.
