Most of the way to a Kaboom, underwater BRS-99. Gun did great, barrel however…

Ruined his $3500 Swiss Arms rifle? That's a tad dramatic don't you think? All Steve was risking was an already shot-out barrel that needed replacing anyway.

I can't remember for sure but I seem to remember him saying that barrel only had about 6000 rounds through it. A Swiss Arms barrel should be good for close to 30000 rounds before being shot out. I guess he started his torture test and destruction by solely using Norinco ammo then finished it off with his over the beach test.
Does anyone remember how much it cost him to buy a new barrel and have it installed?

Yes a tad dramatic I guess but it was stated more to show that some guys don't care what it costs to satisfy their curiosity. Personally I'd never risk one of my rifles when I can just go on YouTube and watch someone else do it but some guys need to see for themselves. I'm just glad they take video for the rest of us to share and comment on.

Indeed, his barrel was no longer shooting how he wanted and he seemed to know it was likely a throw away post test. The high figures given for barrel life are typically of a military threshold, civilian target shooters are likely to find accuracy unacceptable far, far before it would be considered worn out in military use. Anyways, rate of fire makes a huge difference, and I don't believe an even benchmark can be applied to barrel life- but I'm now getting off topic in my own thread. :)

It was a good watch thx and dont feel you have to justify it in any way it was your gun, your test. its a piece of metal and they will make more of them.

You won't be disappointed- they are fantastic little carbines. I find myself repeatedly picking them up to plink, makes you think of an overgrown .22 with good ergos. Only shame is they didn't design it around a pistol mag, 5+1 rounds max, but given it's a 90 degree grip angle not a lot of options.

I wouldnt bother shooting underwater unless it had an underwater effective range of 50 feet or more and I could set up targets. That would be fun.

I don't think a bullet could travel that far under water. There's a video on YouTube of a guy shooting an ak underwater and the bullet only goes about 5 or 6 feet. Maybe a 50bmg could though lol
