How often do you clean your semi-auto?

I've only cleaned my CZ75 once in 8 years. I only cleaned it because it got sluggish and started failing to eject. That being said, I only cleaned the frame and slide. I have never ran a patch down the barrel after many tens of thousands of rounds. Kind of a test I guess. I would clean it after each use if my life depended on it though!

Every firearm ....after every trip....just like to really, only a field strip, but I get to inspect them......oh..and I love the smell of g96.

Are you telling that you bring 40-50 guns at a shooting session ?

Loll

I live 2 hours away from my gun club, (since I prefer ontario clubs to the Quebec ones) So yeah, I shoot as many of my guns as I can fit in the car.

I will usually bring some of my friends, and we usually shoot between 6-12 guns.

I always clean my precision guns immediately after I get home... and I usually pull through before I leave the range.

If you shoot ARs and shotguns, you know how dirty they can get...

Oh yeah, and to me a cleaning is more than a pull-through, I detail strip and thoroughly clean my guns.

So yeah, All said I likely spend 4-5 hours cleaning after the range.

just to say that I am member at an Ontario shooting club....and I alway do a full strip of each of my guns after a shooting session, same for me.... a 3-4-5 hours cleaning session.

everyone do what they want with their guns, but no one can argue the fact that cleaning a gun after each session is the best for their guns, saying ''it does need to be cleaned after each session'' is a personal choice.....even if it's a Glock ....., for those who laft about people that clean their guns after each session by saying that it's a lost of time..... well lolll for yourself,..... like I said it is a personal choice and you do what you want with your guns, if you choose to not clean your gun because you want to test it, then it is a good justification, other than that is a personal choice and yes if you don't have the time to do it is another good justification........, or if you just don't want to clean it that's ok......

do what you want with your guns, is it the best ? find it by yourself....

I don't, really. while I will clean a bit of the burnt powder and carbon off the frame, I just run an oiled patch down the barrel and re-oil the gun and then put it into storage.

I clean them after each day to the range, unless I know I'm going the next day or two. I may not always strip them down for a detailed cleaning but always clean and il the barrel and wipe them down with an oily rag.

I clean my pistols about after 500-700 rounds, wife is about the same, I'm not a clean freak and I believe a quality designed pistol takes that into consideration. Heck I can't even field strip my orange yet, springs are still too damn tight.

Good 1911s I clean quite frequently, every 500 rounds or so. My wife's 226 gets cleaned and greased about the same.

Glocks I clean whenever I think they might benefit from it, maybe every 1-3 thousand rounds. More if I'm bored, less if I'm rushed.

I lube all my guns heavily.

500 rounds through a 1911 is one range session for me, so i clean them after every range session. Even my glocks, i believe its a good practice to do so, weather they need it or not. Im not talking going crazy, but cleaning the barrel and wipeing down the slide is not a bad thing.

As far as lube, what do you use? I was told it is bad to lube guns too much as it attracts dirt that likes to stick to the lube. As well with glocks you have to keep cleaning agent out of the firing pin chamber, as it can leak down their causing weak primer hits etc.

Im just curious, as i see at some ranges the guns got this weird lube on them, im wondering what im missing here. I just use G96.
