Thought some of you guys may take some interest in this,

I just happened to be in Monaco France, picking up a delivery for work,, this was on the dock,, I didn t have time to wait for the owner as I wanted to make an offer,,

Looks like a left over,, from well,, a long time ago.







 
Could very well be a French built postwar Hotchkiss M201. Is there a notch in the sheet metal where the cowl flanges over on to the vertical surface of the dash just above the two dash lights, I cannot see the squarish notch as the mirrors shadow is covering that area.

Just to the right of the of the RH light dome, on the cowl flange, is the notch I refer to. I would also bet there is alot of Willys MB and Ford GPW DNA in the car if it went through a factory rebuild.

Sorry the photos are not better I grabbed them real quick with my iphone, not sure if i can see a notch either, I tried to read the data plate on the dash but it was all stamped and not very clear, the stampings were filled with polish!
 
I lean towards this jeep being a Hotchkiss car as I cannot see the MB/GPW notch, but then again it could be hiding in the shadows. Nice to see old jeeps out and about but wonder about the "plates" on it.

He drove a Polish officer from the 2nd Corpus who located potential AA sites during the Italian campaign with the 8th Army. BTW, he was a Polish soldier captured by the Russians in 1939. He was released by the Russians when the Germans attacked and made his way via Bagdad to Palestine to train with the 8th.

As someone with French blood coursing through my veins, as well as having visited France on a number of occasions, I can attest to the fact that the French are special.

My most recent visit was in 2011 to Paris and the south of France for my honeymoon and I truly enjoyed interacting with Parisians (a bit snobby) and rural inhabitants in the Limousin region (very agricultural) whom I found to be very welcoming.

I was trying to be a bit subtle about that one,,, as for the 'dingy' , not mine, we cannot get into Monaco we have to stay anchored out, The GP is on Sunday though, and that will be good.
