300 Blackout loads

Higginson might have some 110gr VMAX kicking around. Just don't do like I did and accidentally buy Hornady 110FMJ which happen to be round nose. Doh!

As for Lil'gun, good luck! I haven't seen any in a while.

Are those round nose the #3017's ?

I just tested some loads last week with that bullet with H-110 seated at 1.825" and had no FTF with the 20 rounds I tried. Got some more loaded for testing. Might make a cheap plinker load.

Yeah, I bought the bulk 110gr 3017B pills there were round nose. I read several reviews and folks were saying they got feeding issues. I didn't want to take a chance so I exchanged 'em for the 150gr FMJBT. Good to know though. Next time, I'll pickup a few to test out.

Jesse,
My experience with 300BLK has taught me that for 110-130gr the best powder is H110. Depending on the rifle 19-19.6gr seems to work well under the 110 V-max. My PWS 9.75 inch loves 19.4gr but my non restricted ACR 300BLK barrel doesn't group that load as tight.
I use Lil'gun for my 130-165gr loads and A1680 for my 208gr subsonics (12-12.5gr)

Unless things have changed Wholesale Sports, Cabella's, and P&D in Edmonton always seem to have 110gr V-max in stock.
If you can't find any let me know and I'll pick up however many boxes you want and drop them off next time I'm in Calgary.

What did you buy in 300BLK?

My PWS actually feeds those no problem but they end up being really short and leave some empty space in the front of the magazine.

Hey CR5, were you able to get your AR to cycle 208gr pills with any load less than 12.5gr A1680?

Thanks guys that is some great info.
CR5 thanks for that I will take a look at out Wholesale sports, do you mind if I ask what you are playing for your 110 gr?
I would love to find some Lil'Gun but so far everyone is out of stock, I was able to find some H110 and some Hornady 150 gr Boattails so I figured I would at least start with that.
I purchased an AAC branded upper so I am excited to get out and try it.

One thing that I noticed is the Overall Length of Round doesnt look to mater as much as how it fits and sits in the magazine, is this correct?
I am loading for the 150 gr now and I find that the Rib in the magazine is pushing on the bullet and directing the nose of the bullet a little to center, does this mean I should be seating the bullet a little deeper?

Jesse

I tried to follow the Hornady load info and seat my Hornady 150gr FMJBT with 15.5gr H110/W296 but at 2.220" OAL, there's not much bullet in the case. I'm seating to 2.206" and that's a bit before the cannelure. Does anyone seat to the cannelure if so, what's your powder load info?

Found this on the another forum. Thought it might be of interest to some loading 150gr FMJBT.

I think 12.2 was the minimum for my PWS but another guy I know shooting a DI 300BLK can go lighter.
My NR ACR will cycle 12.2 but accuracy is best with 12.4gr A1680 under the 208gr BTHP Hornady. I need to chrony them with the NR barrel.

Jesse, if you don't already have one I'd suggest a factory crimp die. WSS Edmonton usually has the LEE one for $17.
I think I paid $26/100 for the 110V-max the last time I bought them. I think I have about 600 of them left.

Wholesale north and Cabela's are both sold out of 110v-max. I'll go check P&D. I checked the drawer and I only have 300 left so I'll have to pick up a bunch for myself as well if they have any.
