XCR > Tavor

I read somewhere on cgn that an out of the box XCR keymod weighs 7.2 lbs. I just threw my XCR L keymod heavy barrel on the bathroom scale. with a bottom keymod rail, magpul AFG, two magpul sling attachments and sling, offset iron sights, nikon p223 scope and two loaded LAR mags coupled comes in at 13 lbs!!!!

What's your point? Maybe take all the stuff off your rifle and weigh it again. Should be about a pound heavier than the new keymod versions with light barrels. Doesn't sound like much, but the new ones carry the weight much better, the balance is superb.

Bathroom scale isn't going to give you a very accurate reading, they are built to weigh people 80-200 pounds. I use a luggage scale to weigh my rifles.
Why would you weight it with 20 rounds of ammo? Of course your number is going to sound high, manufacturers weigh them stripped down to bare bones. Remove your scope and the magazines and it won't be as bad.

HA HA way to stir up some Sh*t! I had both and my XCR is still around, Tavor is a nice gun but it wouldn't group as tightly for me and I just liked a long gun better. I would not be able to take longer shots on yotes with confidence with a Tavor, but that was me. Unlike the supposed masses I have never had an issue with my XCR. Time will tell I guess.

I was just curious thats all. Im not bashing it i love my xcr!

With cheap 7.62x39, I sold my Tavor and the XCR stayed at home.
I will get another Tavor some day as I'm a gun junky...
But I hated when my Tavor queefed gas on my face.

I have used both. I liked the XCR and being able to reach out down the hand guard, I am also only 5'7 and because of our stupid laws the gun is too long for my liking and as well the older ones put a bit if a bad taste in my mouth because of how bulky they were. Too much hand guard. As well the bolt stop would never work and kept falling apart believe it or not. I then bought a tavor and fell in absolute adult doggy love with it. Nice and short. Awsome to carry for personal defence in the bush and takes all ar mags. The tavor IMO looks ridiculously bulky, but I find it feels very slim when I shoulder it.

The only beef I have with the Tavor is that it is a complete son of a ##### to shoot offhand, slow fire at longer ranges - even with the aftermarket Timney trigger. I think I know why too: the center of gravity on the gun is way back close to the shooter - and "torqueing" the gun and canting it is much easier to do with this type of rifle. With a conventional gun the centre of gravity is further out so they are more forgiving of small body movements during the shooting process. At least...that is what I THINK is happening but I have been wrong before.

I found the tavor to be more accurate for me when shooting offhand or unconventional positions vs an ar, acr, xcr, etc.
That was one of the things I really liked about it.
I did find I couldn't stop as quickly when transitioning from target to target though, due to not being able to get the support hand out more on the hand guard.

It doesn't surprise me that a lot of people don't prefer the Tavor or find it has tight....er groupings over a little distance because the rifle was originally and still isn't designed for it. It's original design was for urban assault/combat scenarios overseas where tight quarters between buildings is everywhere and it's essential to have a carbine that's easily maneuverable in a short space lets say basically 0-20 yards. I don't own a Tavor but have shot one afew times so I don't have a vast amount of experience with it just making an observation based on what people have said....IMHO

How are you slinging up with that, NTM? I had to get rid of the mash hook because it dug into my hands...The rear sling attachment is standard but up front I just tied off the Vickers sling I use. I cannot imagine using a leather GI sling with this gun...the leather would be too stiff to wrap your hand...

I want an xcr. And an acr. And an AR. That being said I do love my tavor. When I first picked one up, it was like someone was taking the blinders off me. It seriously makes me question conventional rifle design.
