CZ 452 Metal VS Plastic mags

I had to grind the front lip off of the metal mags as they kept making it hard to insert them in a few of my cz's, and they wouldn't feed bullets properly with out the front lip bent outwards...

This is a problem that arises from time to time with the CZ .22lr mags (and perhaps other calibers of the 452/455 series), though no grinding is required to solve the problem. Simply disassemble the mags and swap the orientation of the spring such that the part of the spring that faced the front or muzzle side of the mag now faces the trigger side. Keep the follower in the original orientation. Works like a charm.

With regards to the mags being hard to insert into the rifle, this is usually due to user error when reassembling the rifle. Before torquing down the screws, insert the magazine and give it a slight jiggle to center the mag well in the stock. Voila! problem solved.

Oh, and to answer the OP's question, all 452 and 455 .22lr mags are interchangeable between 452 and 455 rifles in .22lr, regardless of the material used to manufacture them.

Thanks,
Cal.

The metal mags flipping the spring around didn't help. The bullets kept binding before the lips. I had to bend the front lip forward. Then it wouldn't seat into my 453 lux. It wasn't the magwell, it was the metal on the receiver that kept the mag from seating...
I took a dremel and ground the front lip off... Problem solved...

So 452 mags regardless metal or plastic will work in old and new 452 rifles? The reason I ask is I have a few older ones from about 10 years ago with a few extra metal mags and i will be getting a new 452 soon that takes plastic and wondering if I have to stock up on a few plastic mags? by the way who carries CZ .22 rifle mags for CZ 452?

Good to know I have both and work okay but if I add one I'll know how to approach it if a problem

One minor thing for people who like 5-round mags, the metal 5-rounders fit a bit more flush than the plastic ones.

Both work equally well... I changed all of mine to metal anyway... I'm Fudd"ish" when it comes to CZ's.
