300 Blackout loads

I just cleaned out P&D unless they have more in the back.
I also cleaned them out of Hornady .224 75gr BTHP, they were $41/200 rounds. :)

Jesse, I might be coming to Calgary next weekend, I'll bring a box of 110's if you want to give them a try.

Hey CR5 thanks, That sounds good to me if you make your way to Calgary let me know.
I have found a few odds and ends and put together some 150 gr rounds with 15.2 gr of h110 getting about 1750 fps from them and cycle well in an AAC 8.9" upper, Length is 2.065

I have a factory die setup and working.
Found some 1lb of LilGun at Reliable Gun in Vancover but thats all they had, also got some 100 gr 308 bullets to try out for cheap.

The hornady 100gr varmint with the lead tips won't cycle in my rifle.

I'll text you if I make it down there. Pretty sure your number is still in my phone.
That PWS 223 I bought from you printed a sub moa group last time I had it out. Decided to try 77gr Black Hills Mk262 in it and that barrel loved them :)

I think 12.2 was the minimum for my PWS but another guy I know shooting a DI 300BLK can go lighter.
My NR ACR will cycle 12.2 but accuracy is best with 12.4gr A1680 under the 208gr BTHP Hornady. I need to chrony them with the NR barrel.

11.5gr A1680 in my DI to cycle, 11.8gr lock back bolt.

11.5gr A1680 in my DI to cycle, 11.8gr lock back bolt.

I can go a little lighter than 12.2 but it locks back on the carrier instead of the bolt face. It might be able to go lighter now that it's fully broken in but i haven't done much development with subsonics in the AR, just did enough to figure out what it will shoot and what it won't.
Once I figured out that 19.4gr of H110 under a 110 V-max would do right around 1" @ 100yds I stuck to that mostly.

Nice that sounds like a winner for sure.
Where are you guys finding the A1680 powder?
I would like to try some subsonics.

Glad the PWS is serving you well, glad it went to a good home.

I bought my A1680 from ATRS, I actually need to pick up another pound or two.

I threw an Enidine hydraulic buffer into the 223 PWS and now it feels like I am shooting rimfire, it's so smooth. I found a PWS Triad for it and have settled on it as it's muzzle device (until something better comes along). Had a Rainier mini comp on in for a while but it made it too loud.

What are you guys using for heavier bullets such as 168gr? I've loaded some 168gr over 14.3 to 15.3gr of H110 COAL 2.215 to try

Also trying some M62 Pulled tracers over 16.4gr of H110. Hopefully they'll light

I've had pretty good results with 168gr SMK with H110. I've even used H110 behind 178gr HPBT with no issues. Unfortunately I don't have my notes handy to tell you the powder weight.

Edit: I should note that the above was fired from a 10.3" barrel.

No buddy else chiming in?

well, mine are all cast 220 grain lyman bullet, you can hear the thud when it hits the target out at 100 and 200.
aslo have some 180 grain hollow point casts from a nice BRP mold that shoot very well.

platform is a savage bolt action 12 inch BBL 1:7 made by north shore barrels.

Bolt guns are perfect for .300 Blackout. You can run any bullet/powder combination you'd care to try and not have to worry about cycling issues inherent in semi-auto platforms.

As been stated numerous times over, H110, Lil' Gun, and A1680 are the powders you want to start with if you're shooting an AR. If you're looking for a cheap plinking bullet that will cycle in AR's, consider the NOE 247gr. lead bullet mould and start casting your own bullets. Lots of good feedback on it on the web. I've had that mould for over (4) years now and still haven't got around to trying it. I'm looking forward to doing so though.

I have shot both crimp and no crimp and didnt see any difference, but thats me.

The 2 die set will have seating die which will apply roll crimp.
once you set the depth of the bullet, back out the seating stem and turn die body clockwise till you feel it touch the brass. Lower the ram and turn body of die 1/8 at a time to desired crimp.

Try and get case length headspace gage, it will help with ensuring the rounds you make chamber.
