Always wanted a 9mm AR... now I have one.

I've always wanted a 9mm AR but could never justify the price for a restricted pistol caliber carbine.
When I read that one of our members had a kaboom with his I offered to buy all the parts off him if he wasn't going to rebuild it.
A week later I got a PM from him saying he decided not to buy the parts and I bought everything. A new upper receiver later and some creative repairs to the lower and I now have a functioning 9mm.
It started out as a Bushmaster Carbon 15 and now has a Cerro forge slickside upper. I have an NEA upper and lower on the way but I'm not going to worry swapping anything else out until I have a chance to shoot it and see what I want to change


The shadow hides it pretty much completely but that's a bushnell first strike on there with a cheap eBay riser.

Just need a few more mags for it.
The mags in the pics are Rock River Arms pistol mags
I might swap out the forend but not sure yet.

Standard lower with a 9mm magwell adapter block. Questar sells a Spikes Tactical one. This one has a dedicated lower with a removable magwell block. It also needs a different hammer.

IIRC you can get a 9mm Bcg ramped so you can use a .223/5.56 hammer.
I could be wrong about this though.

I think you may be right, I've read somewhere that there are bolts that don't require a special hammer.

I bought another upper and lower as well but I think my repairs to the lower are going to hold well enough. I guess I'll just have to use the new upper/lower to build another AR

Funny how when you don't have a 9mm AR you see deals on magazines all the time but now that I have one all I can find is WTB ads.
