Well guys I'm going to breakdown and take out an Imposter hunting bears tonite. The kid leaves me no options as he has taken his 350 RM for the weekend and has left me with his 30-06 with 150 gn loads, his 257 Wby with 110 gn loads and his Ruger African in 375 Imposter with 260 gn ABs or his 300 RUM with 165 gn ABs. Of the bunch I'd actually choose the RUM but he has no 200 gn Swifts loaded and no bullets to load for it. Welcome to the continent wide shortage of components !!

So given my options as they are I'm just going to have to break down and use the 375 Imposter this evening. Sure hope I don't get eaten using this unproven new comer cartridge !!!!

i knew one day you ll have to use the princess ...

enjoy your hunting time.

Phil

Doug if needed i have 200 and 220 grains nosler partition bullets.

Appreciate that Phil, but no time to load and resight the rifle this aft..........I'll just have to risk it I guess !! Sure wish I'd brought my 9.3X300 up with me............a proven bear cartridge...........:p:p;)

I really do hope you get to shoot at least one animal to get a good field perspective of the round. Internet jibberjabber and paper monkeys don't tell if its a useful round. The black bear I hit with it went down HARD. BUT I have never shot any animal with a .375 H & H so, I have no measuring stick so to speak. Hope it works out well for you

Not to worry SgtR, I have full confidence in the rifle and cartridge, my boy has taken a train load of game with it and that load, including grizzly and blackies. Just have to keep up the grind, otherwise GH will think he's won !!!!!!

Well saw 3 blackies and the east end of a west bound grizzly already having decided to find a new county to inhabit, too bad looked like a good bear from the glimpse I got. The first blackie was a totally emaciated older boar, looked as though he had come out on the wrong end of a bad encounter. All the hair was torn from one shoulder, didn't look like slippage yet as the rump and sides were still well haired. Studied him from about 30 mtrs for several minutes before deciding not to cut my tag on him. Another faded into the tree line before I could get close enough for a good clear shot (gotta quit smoking) and the third was at last light but wasn't much bigger than a chocolate lab, so no interest there. Wind was blowing fairly stiff and they weren't out like normal, normally see 6-12 in an evening this time of year. Guess they're like me, hate the wind.
Oh well, still have a couple or 3 weeks................and I don't hear no fat lady singing yet.
It is now 2:20 am, I'm beat and it's bedtime.

I smiled when I read "no options" and then you listed several combos that I would shoot a bear with in a heartbeat!

Nothing wrong with just wanting to try the Ruger....

You've got a very good spot of you see 6-12 animals in an evening!!!

That ugly bear might be a good match with your 375 imposter. You should shoot the bear you don't like with a caliber you dislike.

I'm gonna hold out for a good bear, over 7' and well haired. The grizzly I glimpsed was apparently a monster, CO saw him the evening prior and said he was a true 8 1/2 footer................Damn !!! 30 seconds either way can make all the difference in the world........If the weather picks up I'll probably head out tomorrow evening and see if I can't get a crosshair on him. Kids done so I can use his 350 RM again, "good luck" gun not like that Imposter..........all I see with that Imposter are scrubs and babies.........
