Revolvers over pistols... My choice....

Does anyone know why handgun hunting/backwood carry was actually banned? Heard a few things (e.g. a incident in Ontario in the 50's or 60's) but nothing definitive. haven't searched so maybe i should start there.

Because they don't want us owning handguns.

I see no reason not to allow handguns in the bush for protection and hunting, however If you want a more primitive experience, you can still get or make a long bow and some wooden, feather fletched arrows.

I don't mind the archery hunting because it still gives the deer a decent chance due to the fact that...(getting flamed soon) the number of archery hunters are limited due to the physical requirement. You actually have to work up to being able to draw and effectively get your kill. Practice and the power to pull the poundage are required.
Handgun hunting would put way more hunters in the field because (IMO) anyone could do it. This would put a strain on deer population that archery does not.
Archery is a discipline that requires much work to be even mediocre at hunting. It's hard; not too sure about the tree stand thing, not my cup of tea...maybe when I get older and less capable.
Sorry about the deviation from the original post.

I notice many people hate picking up brass, being new here , I must ask is it because you reload , or just not litter bugs? Someone mentioned picking up brass in the snow , which leads me to the assumption that he would be out doors ,and where I live its not unusual to find old shotgun shells laying around on the ground. I'd guess most people would not think of picking up their brass if they didn't reload. I used to have a PA-63 and when out shooting along the railway tracks never thought of picking up . I guess I just didn't think of it as littering. Same goes for my 22 semi auto rifel.

Deer populations are at an all time high. They are becoming a pest like Canada Geese. So shooting a few with handguns would be a great idea. Out west anyway.

Very sad we cant hunt with our handguns... But very excited to get my S&W 627 Performance Center delivery, planned on Thursday... Yey... JP.

I'm interested in seeing a range report for one of those Pietta 44 magnums. I'm pondering a 44 but I was thinking of going to Super Blackhawk route myself for the adjustable sights and proven long term strength of the frame

The 627PC has a bead blasted finish, so I took some "Mother's mag polish" from Canadian Tire and shined it up halfway. I used just enough until it looked right. I don't want it shiny like a nickel plated gun but just a little more shine on the slab sides and cylinder make it look fantastic IMHO. Then I wax it with Macguire's and it cleans up so easily after every use.

I hope that you love your gun JP!

Life is to short to restreint yourself... When i vaporize in the cloud, thinking and meditating will be forever... Now is time for AAAAction and nice performing toys... JP.

I intend to fit a piccinaty rail on my 627 and mount a Hendsolt RSA... 7-10-17 yards is fun but i like to shoot my handguns at 50-100 yards, the holosight permit that, some have withness my 629 with my Delta point shooting 3 shots group at 50 yards with holes touching... Shooting is fun, let's try things... JP.

One day I'll scope my .44mag Ruger BlackHawk Bisley Hunter and give it a go @ 100yrds:)

I'm with Carmel and the red dot's over scopes on pistols.
Here's another from the "hunter" family in .22lr/.22mag, I mostly shoot it with irons though as it has a nice small gold bead sight that is easy to pick up.
