Revolvers over pistols... My choice....

My Desert Eagle 44 mag mounted by a Hendsolt RSA, over the bag, give me an easy 6 MOA at 100 yards... JP.

Can-down…nice .22lr Hunter set-up! It would make a great little brother to my RBHBH. Know where I can get one?
The Gold bead front sight is a great idea to replace the one on my Hunter. Like yourself I prefer shooting irons but out side of 25yrds my aging eyes could use the help of a scope.

I know it is not a revolver but it's a niche firearm of very high quality and with accuracy on par with many lever carbines chamber in pistol calibers, it is an amazing pistol... JP.

I picked it up from a fellow nut here on the EE. You might try a wanted to buy on the EE or just start calling around?
Worst case you'd have to place an order.

I have a .44 as well they are great guns!

I'm with Carmel and the red dot's over scopes on pistols.
Here's another from the "hunter" family in .22lr/.22mag, I mostly shoot it with irons though as it has a nice small gold bead sight that is easy to pick up.

Nice revolver, i am at making a base for my Ruger Single 10 22 lr, i will fit a very smal Burris lll... this caliber is very relaxing an accurate.... JP.

I'm happy with both, but the appeal of revolvers over pistol is obvious. I've wanted a nice traditional SA/DA 22lr revolver, but new models available are made for girls: That is the grips are small, and the trigger guard is to close to the grip. Eventually something used, and of a vintage when 22 revolvers were made to fit a man's hand, will come up for sale that appeals to me...

^ sounds like you're looking for a Smith and Wesson K17. K=frame size, same as .38/.357magnum guns. 17=model number. The 17's are .22LR full size revolvers, the older ones were 6 shot, the newer ones are 10 shot. {maybe an 8 shot as well, not sure}. I've been told that the 10rd ones had timing issues that have since been resolved, but for me I'll always be in the market for an older 6 shot K17 in nice condition.

I am looking at Epps site and they have this S&W 617 full size 22lr 6 inch handgun, 10 shots, the size of a large caliber Smith in 22 lr is appealing... JP.

I am partial toward S&W and I keep my eyes open for a K17 and the wonderfully full grip offered. I've handled new Taurus revolvers which weren't hopelessly small, but the Alfa proj was hopeless (not to detract from the fact that they might otherwise be a good gun)

There are a couple 17s on the EE for sensible prices, blued 6 shots. I should get one of those, as I know the new S&Ws (while stainless - what I want) will have "new" features with the > -6 models that aren't as appealing, but have to be tolerated to get an eight or ten round cylinder.

I'm surprised you found the alpha hopeless. Seems pretty close to the same size as my mod 17...
You can change grips as well.
Good luck!

Have you owned a stainless revolver before? I find them a pain to keep clean {but I'm a little OCD leaning where my guns are concerned}. I shoot a lot of .22LR and if done so with a stainless revolver it would put me over the edge trying to keep it clean! Lol!

Some people treat the dirty areas with something that escapes me right now that helps the black wipe off..... I just wipe what I can with an oiled rag and leave the rest on the face of the cylinder.

My knuckles squash in behind the trigger guard: I know it would take more recoil than a 22lr to antagonize it, the constant squashing and chaffing would grow tired quickly.

Plinker 777 - I have stainless revolvers and am similarily smitten with OCD in their cleaning so understand the chore it is keeping them clean. In my opinion, a nicely cleaned SS revolver is one of, if not the most attractive handgun known to man. I rub #9 on the carbon everywhere with a brass brush and lightly scrub when necessary: The worst part to clean I find is (with powders like unique and the mess they make) and with cast bullets, the lead that accumulates around the cylinder gap region. While 22 is notorious for being dirty, I expect the lower quantity of carbon/lead deposition would make cleaning easier than that of the larger bore revolvers I already have. Stainless or blued, the same dirt is accumulating: With stainless, the carbon is on a contrasting surface.

hey JP...shot the ruger super redhawk alaskan in .454 today . member had full loads ammo . ammo was very hot , gun was a full hand of torque . i was thinking you'd like it a lot.

Sure would have Sig... I will show up somethime this week with my 627 and my Armalite with the new scope configuration to zero it... JP.

First time I tried a SA revolver I was baffled by the small grip but then I learned how to grip it with 2 fingers and let the pinky go under the bottom and now small grips don't really bother me.
Do you have knuckle squash issues with all revolvers?
